13b oil pump in 12a?

Simple Question, Will a 13b oil pump fit in a 12a? If so, where do I find one (preferably new)? I know the second gen oil pump doesn't fit but does a 13b oil pump from a SE fit in a 12a? Thanks guys.

as far as I know all the oil pumps will bolt in place of each other. I think your getting the oil pump confused with the metering oil pump that are not interchangable between the early 2nd. gen and earlier and the later ones that are electronically controlled.

all 81-85 OMP's are the same, so they can be interchanged..

if you are talking about the actual oil pump, then yes the GSL-SE 13B oil-pump is the way to go.

This is what i Use in my 12A engines.

if you take the 2 apart side by side,
the 12A, and a 13B -SE oil pump,
the rotor, and housings in the 12A pump will be about 12mm in width, where the -se pump will be 17.5 width.

if you think about it, it gives you nearly 50% more capacity....

for you engine builders out there, these are the pumps to use on all your FB engine rebuilds. You can port the chambers on the front side housing to have more duration, and better flow...

Thats what I got to see. I've done most mods such as e-shafts and such but not the pump. And I agree with the SE pump, much bigger and with the OMP lines, just install a "wye" to reduce the 4 to 2 lines. Thats another reason why engines last for many years. Plenty of lubrication. Who cares of it smokes a little bit. Im not behind my car anyway.

All oil pumps are interchangeable. Get the race pump from RB if you want a good one! It is not that much more than a new stock one.

this race pump is the same as the -se pump, only the rotors and housings are hardened via heat-treating to make them more reliable at higher rpm

THis is not important until you are well beyond 10K rpm

Yeap. SE oil pump is what I got in my 12A. Plus a 3rd gen oil pressure regulator.

Yeah I usually run about 130 PSI via the RB or MFR rear adjustible regulator. and by shimming the front bypass about 1/8"

I don't usually use the rear 3-window bearing or do NOT use the weber jets or even the Mazda race jets unless I build a bridge or better.

there are alot of other racers who run the same set-up.

If you choose to run very high oil pressure on a streetcar that will see a lot of miles, itd be a wise idea to install a new pump chain.High oil pressure puts a greater load on the chain since theres more resistance.Mazdatrix bumped my oil pressure to about 100-110psi on my S5 TII when it was built.Thats up from about 70 for a stock engine, good for extra protection but not so much that anything will get strained after 50-75 thousand miles of use.

And to clarify, the S5 and S6 electronic oil metering pump are mechanically driven off the E-shaft,just like the older pumps. The throttling motion that is usually done with linkage is performed by a stepping motor, and the position is monitered by another sensor to tell the ECU if the motor is working correctly.
