Arrow 13b NA engine swap PICS!

I just swapped my engine for a 13b 4 port with 9.7:1 rotors. It's street ported, and produced 180 hp at the wheels. I estimate it to be a high 13 second car, but I can not yet confirm this. I have a Haltech E6X, t2 intake manifold, stock exhaust headers (not for long), and a fairly free flowing exhaust. My upgrades will soon be Racing Beat exhaust headers, and a long primary exhaust with 2.5 inch muffler.

That last pic, of the speedo... I could go faster if I didn't have an 89-91 NA tranny with a .698:1 overdrive ratio. When I shift into 5th gear, it goes all the way down to 5500 rpm and will not accelerate any more. I calculated the theroretical top speed to be 201 mph at 8100 rpm.

Cool! I'm doing a similar install...13B 6 port into my 85 GS. What did you use for a radiator, and how did you mount the oil cooler? Was it pretty straight-forward?

i used a s4 radiator (it was a major BITCH to mount, but it works well now) and i custom mounted the oil cooler. I just welded 2 brackets to the frame. You could drill 2 long holes and put 2 long bolts in the frame if you dont weld.

Thanks! It looks like the oil cooler's in front of the radiator...is that the standard location? On my '79 the radiator isn't as tall and the oil cooler is mounted below the radiator.

what kind of UIM is that?

i'm doing the S4 NA swap into my '84 GSL-SE and i'm using the S4 dynamic chamber partially because i may as well use the better S4 stuff and partially because it looks totally bitchin'.

I'm gonna do a 6 port with GSL-SE end housings, GSL-SE rotor housings, S5 rotors, 12A center housing (stock port is pretty much the same as a street port in a 6 port center housing). I'm gonna street port the center end and rotor housings, use Pineapple aux port sleeves, keep the S5 intake with VDI and port match it. Put an RPM switch to activate the 6 ports, run full dual exhaust, and run a standalone engine management system.

Sounds good... except I dont think you can use GSL-SE rotor housings with 2mm rotors. There are clearence issues...

Just use a ported TII motor with S5 (N/A) Rotors.

Would be nice and easy to go Turbo later too.

I agree with what is said about the 4 port motor, they seem to make more power than the 6 ports do.

Come to think of it Mazdatrix uses old school 4 port 13B housings with S5 rotors for their 4 port 13B engines that they build for the FB so the GSL-SE ones should work. Anyone know for sure?

more often, they use the more available 12a 4port housings

Hell yeah it is! I love NA, that's why I sold my turbo, and I love fuel injection... That's why I ditched the carburetor.

Just for the record, this car is FAST!!! It is easily running a high 13 second 1/4 mile, and it feels just as fast as my turbo carbureted 12a. And it's quieter, smoother, and easier to drift (no turbo lag).
