13B motor?
13B motor?
I have a '81 RX-7 GSL. I bought it new in '81 and didn't change anything under the hood. Someone asked me if it has a 13B motor. Man, being a novice in autos, how do I know. Does anyone can shed some lights?
If it has a carburator it is not a 13B. 13Bs are fuel injected and whack out a lot more horses, have bigger wheels, a GSL SE, 84/85 is a lot more car, they go like hell. I have a Porsche 944 as well as my SE and the SE is faster and costs a fraction in maintenance that the P-car does.

you my friend have a 12A. It is a 1.1L engine while the 13B is a 1.3L. Weirdly enough they made a 13B from 1974-1978? (i believe) the tripple (3) rotor is called the 20B. The RX8's are a different breed...i dont know if they have a numbe but they're called Renisis motors...There's a lot more differences between them but thats another subject.
Yeah, the 13b is a GSL-SE model exclusive with first gen rx7's, and the -SE's were only '84's and '85's. Also if you pop the hood, on the driver's side of the engine you should see "Mazda" engraved in the metal of the engine, along with which engine it is "12A" or "13B".
