13B Minimum Requirements

Good Day Eh, and welcome to my thread

I am in the process of swapping a 13b from an 84 GSL-SE into an 85 GSL. I am at the stage where I try and figure out the wiring and instalation, which leads to my question.

For the sake of simplicity, I would like to leave off all of the stuff that is not needed to make the engine run.

Said another way, what solenoid valves/compensator motors/vaccum lines can I take off of the 13B and still use the stock computer? And what sensors/controlers are absolutely necessary for the stock computer to work? This is kinda like rats nest removal, but there are also solenoid valves on the fire wall and fender that I want to the importance of.

I would apreciate any help.

thanks!

Well,.... The 2 silinoids on the fire wall are not a requirement for the ecu to operate. They help manage the ACV which can be blocked off with ease.

The other 4 on the engine however you will want to keep. The 2 black ones control the BAC valve, and must be in place for your car to run and idle properly. The otheres are emissions related and tie in to the vacuum nest that the 2 black ones use, so it is easier just to keep them if they are working properly.

To be honest, I would simply go with a good Weber or Holley setup. The SE efi is a restricting setup due to the air flow meter size. And tuning the ECU with aftermarket gadgets is not an option.
You are also dealing with a 20 year old wiring harness, connectors, and sensors.

Good luck
This link will help, it has lots of SE EFI info.
