13B in a GS rx-7 question

I have a gsl-se engine that is sitting in my friend's garage. It has about 160 000Km on it (100 000 milles i think). I have a 83 GS with 12A engine. I have the RB complete exhaust system (dual - road race system). I called Mazdee's in Toronto, and they told me my car is supposed to run like **** because of the dual exhaust system? They also told me this exhaust system would give less power than a single exhaust one unless you have a large ported engine.

Now my problem is, what are the modifications to do to be able to put the 13B in it ? I heard something about the motor mounts ?

yeah u have to move the crossmember forward by 20mm because the 13b is 20mm longer. not sure if u can bolt it to the 12a's gearbox though. u might have to find som info about that.

what u do is take ur 12a out, take off its crossmember from the timing cover. weld up the mounting holes, and from there drill new hole 20mm back from the original hole on the crossmember. be sure to do it to both holes of course. there might not be enuf "meat" or metal close to the new drilled holes so perhaps weld a plate of steel of same guage to where the holes are. (hope this is making sense) then bolt the crossmember to your 13b and put it back in bolting it up.

i was told this by a mechanic, so not sure if it was done, or if people do it. ring around some places where u are. they may even have "already made up" crossmembers for what u are doing. its a fairly common thing to do, so i can't see why workshopd wouldn't have some made.
