Question 13b

Howdy, i've got a 1984 GS with a 12A in it...
it's got over 150k miles on it, and it's coming time to either rebuild it or get a new one.

1) Say i were to get a new one.. what places sell quality engines?
2) If i wanted something like a 13B instead of a 12A, would it fit in my GS

3) How much time is needed to swap the engine?
4) This one is probably asked a lot.. About how much would a new engine cost? Since i'd be rebuilding or swapping, i'd probably want a 13B

Oh, ... do you know anywhere that sells the "Mazda" insignia that goes on the back of the car? The "M" fell off yesterday when i was washing it...

Thanks for the help.
Oh yea, one more thing... i've been hearing (I'm new to the rotary scene) a lot about the rotaries running at high RPMs...
and some people say you can redline fairly often.. is this true?

The answer to all your questions is Mazdatrix. Check em out at www.mazdatrix.com . They are located in California, although I'm not sure how close to San Diego...

You also have the option of replacing that 12A engine with a 2nd generation Turbocharged engine.

Yep, rotaries love rpm's. On a stock enigine it's unescessary to go much past redline due the placement of it's powerband and the fact that reliability becomes an issue if you go too high. 8000rpm is usually enough. Ported race engines can rev out to 10000+rpm but for such high rpm special mods such as carbon seals and balancing are needed for reliability.
