If you find a GSL-SE it will even have a 13b in it from the factory. If you want to do a 13bt out of a TII, it is a really easy fit too, mainly wiring, hell you can even do a couple things to get the TII tranny to fit and have the shifter in the same spot. Great fun cars.

can be easy, can be difficult, depending what engine you're using, from what year, keeping fuel injection, etc.

a 86+ 13b is fairly simple if you have a SE, a 13b of any year requires some work on the crossmember or a 13b crossmember itself. keeping the fuel injection is another matter in itself. there is a write-up in the stickied FAQ about doing so i believe. but i havent run into many threads about doing a SE 13b into a GS body, which requires the front engine harness, kind of a pain to install, however it can be bypassed i would just use a carb on it and save yourself one helluva a headache, depending on your mechanical and electrical skills its very easy and can be done in a weekend.

search the forums, there is a wealth of info here and g'luck.

i have all the tools i need, limited money (like a lot of ppl) and plenty of time.

i was thinking getting a southern 1st gen no rust or anything, and then dropping in a tII if possible, which now i know is possible.

i would prolly want to try and stay with the fuel injection, but if its a huge pain in the ***, well i guess i wont.

any other suggestions guys? im in need of some help cuz i really know nothing about the 1st gens, i mean NOTHING

Consider All the Options

IF you are really going to consider a TII, that is a fair amount of work to convert. If you are going to all that trouble, be open minded and consider the other obvious options to get that kind of power. I have done rotary conversions and other conversions. They all have their pros and cons.

I recommend you spend some time reading this web site:

http://www.grannysspeedshop.com/

I also recommend you start with a really nice car, or you will be investing a lot of time and money and won't have anything of much value when you are done.

I swapped an FC engine into my SA.

It was a bit of pain. But if you have a wiring diagram and a donor car you can definately make it work. everything bolts in easily. And having the later model fuel injection could be nice.

A kick *** forst gen will be more fun then an FC less weight more nimble IMO. Seems more genuine then an FC. Then again I love these little cars. A TII in an FB is the ****.

Knowledge, tools, time and money!

1. Plenty of information already on the forum plus members will always give specific advice.

2, Tools, just the average mechanics set is sufficient.

3. Time, 39-49 hours would be typical spread over months is common.

4. Money, how long is a piece of string? Going for a TII you can double the cost of an imported engine so you are looking from $3000 up depending on parts used. The total can climb to $6,000 if you upgade every thing whilke at the topend some people $10,000.
