13b to 12a housing interest?

I am just trying to see if there is any real interest in 13b to 12a housings. With the inability to obtain new 12a housings and that driving up the cost. I would be able to machine 13b housings for use on 12a's. Most common wear on 13b housings are on the outer edge. So, that old housing that was once useless, can be used again once the sides are milled down. BUT, I am unable at this time to machine in the groove for the water jackets. So they would need to be used with 86+ 13b plates. If the interest was great enough. I would be willing to machine in the water jacket grooves to be used with 12a irons.

Basically, you keep your car a 12a while getting all the benefits of having a newer 13b minus the cubic inches. If there is interest in this. I am willing to offer this as a service. But before I make all the fixtures and buy he tooling, I want to check if there is a market for this.

Well of course pricing is the biggest thing. If it was only 5 bucks. Everyone would be interested. But if it was 300, almost no one would be.

I can't say for sure right now on a price. But I would put it at around 75-150 per housing.

unfortunately, i think you may have to either take the chance and start doing it and leave it to a "if you build it, they will come"-dice roll or just not bother. i say that because not only are people probably going to want you to sell it for $5, but i also suspect you will find a lot more people saying they're interested, than people who are interested enough to actual buy.

lastly, you'll probably lose a few people until YOU make a hard promise/commitment to machine the new rotor housings for use with older side housings. without that, your intake manifolds go out the window.

that said, if you did start making them. as long as you could match Goopy's quality, i would do all i can to buy a set and support you because you're somewhat local to me and i respect any HONEST venture to keep our cars alive.

I agree with you 100% diabolical. I will have to rethink this a little.

maybe an intake manifold adapter to go with it will drum up more interest.

I know Atkins Rotary has been doing this and they are available with the grooves. Not sure on price though.
