13b to a 12a flywheel and trans?

13b to a 12a flywheel and trans?

will the 13b bolt to a 12a trans and can i use the flywheel from a 12a about to get a 13b but its auto and all I have is 12a stuff

Yes. All rotaries '74-up have the same bellhousing bolt pattern, and all N/As use the same diameter flywheel and the same tranny input splines. Turbo II/FD have a different diameter flywheel and a different trans input spline, but there are ways to get around that. (The transmission will still physically bolt to any '74-up rotary and vice-versa, though)

No. The factory flywheels have a certain imbalance to them and can only be used for a given engine/year.

You could either find out what year your 13B will be and locate a stock flywheel from its year range ('74-85, '86-88, or '89-02) or you could acquire a lightweight flywheel, which will bolt to the automatic counterweight.

ok, so i have a 4 port 13b from unknown origins. how can i find out which year it is so i can figure out which flywheel i would need?

welp...

what you need to know is what rotating assembly is in the engine. This is impossible to determine just by looking at the engine, because you might have something like '74-85 rotor housings and 12A side housings (practically same as '74-78 side housings for that matter) but with S4 or S5 rotors in it. Or you might have a S4 block with S5 internals, or with GSL-SE internals (because people think 3mm seals = better). Or you might have S5 rotors milled for 3mm seals so you can't just check seal thickness.

ummmm....dammit! are there any easy ways to narrow it down then? can i tell by the counterweights at all? wouldnt they match the rotors?
