13" Tires

Just came across some street 13" tires that look they could work well for a 1st gen RX7. Federal 595 SS in 180-60-13 appears to be about the same size as the Toyo R888 205-60-13. The 13" tires are 460 tread wear, kind of close to the Sumitomos everyone loved. The bigger sizes are 240-260 tread wear. It is also $35 at Online Tires. I wouldn't recommend it as a performance tire (there are toyos, hankooks, hoosiers, etc for that), but it looks like it might be a good street tire that looks more aggressive than the skinny 13" tires that are typically available these days. I am thinking of getting a set as rain tires for my ITA RX7. Probably not great, but would have to be way better than Hankook Z214's.

According to the Federal website, there is also a 205-60-13 available, but I didn't see them at Online. I have seen posts elsewhere that they are used on Legends cars, so might be able to buy them through Legends car parts suppliers.

My mistake on the 185 width. They are narrower than the Toyo 205's. The Federal 205's are about the same as the Toyos though. I found them at AVN Motorsports for about $60 each.

You're thinking to run a 205/60 on a 5.5"-wide wheel?

OK lied again. the 205's at AVN were 14". Dang it. Only place I have been able to find so far that has 205's is in the NorthEastLegends and it looks like maybe they don't ship.

7" wheel. Although I have had 205-60 on a stock wheel before. Looks a little cantilevered, but works OK.

I'm running 205/60-13's on stock 5.5's without issue. They look 'correct' for the year of the car - - the stretched look didn't come along until decades later.

205 60 on the stock rim has been de rigueur since the '70's.

OK. I just talked to the guy at Westend Racing in Arcata, CA. He said that he would sell Federal 595 in 205-60-13 as a Legends car tire. He also said it should be no problem getting them from U.S. Legends West in Las Vegas. For that matter, they should be available from any of the supplier listed at the URL in my previous post.

A few months ago I talked to the Legends dealer in my area and he said he would sell me a set. So this is probably the same everywhere.
