13" snow tire

Whatever happen to the almighty 13" winter tire? I have been calling around trying to find a set. Seems that manufactures have stop making them. So what is the next option for us to do?

Owning a Miata it is also getting harder to find a 14" winter tire but not impossible.

We can't even find 13" summer tires worth a hoot, so not surprised winter snows are hard to find. Maybe just have
them stud your regular tires. Better yet, get a beater and leave the 7 in the garage for the winter.

Bingo!! Agreed on parking her for the Winter... which kicked off yesterday with a BANG So, t_g, what's the best choice, of the very limited 13 inch performance tires still available (in your opinion).

You have 2 choices, both are RDOTs, Hoosiers or Toyos. I'd go with the toyos if I had my choice.
There are no performance DOT tires in 13 in and even less with RWL. I have the Cooper Cobras in
205/60x13. They look nice but its a **** tire, squeals like a pig, lots of flex, and poor grip. My old RE71s were better by far.

This.

Or I had General Altimax All Season tires on my 13's and ran them once in the snow. They didn't do too terrible and I went on an hour long drift session around 90* turns in the neighborhood. But in the summer they're worthless, perfect example of "you get what you pay for"!

How about the Falken Sincera SN-828 from Discount, or the Kumho Solus KR21 from Tire Rack? Anyone have experience with either of those tires?

Someone should create a "STICKY" listing all of the currently KNOWN manufacturers of 13-inch rubber and general overall impressions.

I called my local Discount Tire looking for 13" rubber. The salesperson asked, "Are those for a trailer?"

Yep! I got that too. Discount is where I got the Altimax set of 13's and it was the only tire they had in stock at the time.

That's pretty bad news to hear. I have a set of half used up generals winter tires 13" I will have to cherish. I was hoping to do a little ice racing with the car. So the next question is what is our options for rims? 15" tires are still available. I know we have a funky bolt pattern also...

I have 14" LE wheels on mine, and finding snow*tires for them was pretty easy. Ended up getting General Altimax Arctics off of tirebuyer. I was pretty impressed by them, too. Good in both the snow and dirt.
