I rode in a 13bt powered VW not too long ago. Man, was it fast. It was actually a NA 13b motor with a turbo on it, running a blow-through setup with a holley. Youre gonna have a great time with the car once it's up and running

hope this pic is clear enough for ya. just drill a hole and tap a fitting. I use a little jb weld to make sure the fitting is sealed. you have to use a check valve(any good auto parts store will have one $3-5). the check valve makes sure the top of the diaphram does not see vacuum. when it sees boost it will put equal pressure on diaphram. you have to have a pump to push enough fuel to make it work as well.

If I could do it again I would go 13bt. fuel injection is the way to go. I am just gonna play with this one, street, dunes and hills. I have 3 sets of wheels and tires. One set for street, one for the moutains(31x15 mickey thompson offroad tires)and another set for some desert traks for the sand(or paddles if I can find em cheap.

Its got a vw bus tranny in it so its not a 1/4 mile monster. I am hoping it can eat some new STI's though.

hyper you got any good turbos? I need to step up and get a little biger one.

I snaped some more pics

the IC fits right under the rear cowl. There will be a vw bus emblem that will fill in the hole. I will have a fan that pulls air through when boost kicks in.

The dual filters will help with a constant fuel supply when I am going up really steep hills and sand dunes. They also make sure the pump dosent run dry.

What you think so far???

The pulley is golden, lol.

air blowing across the turbo is a good thing, those snails get REALLLY hot... cooling will improve the longevity (though not by much if youre just blowing air on top of it.. but every bit helps), and it will help keep heat away from the engine.

here's something crazy: take a smaaaaalll oil cooler from an auto transmission and place it in series with the turbo's oil supply, in the vehicles airstream. on the feed side it will help cool your turbo bearings with cool oil, on the drain side it will help keep oil temps down improving engine soft seal longevity and preventing oil breakdown. thoughts?
Or you can do what im doing and get a liquid cooled turbo from a Pontiac Firefly with a waste gate at 7 psi, but i have to see if it will have enough A/R. Its called a/r correct? Or is it just the CFM rating? But anyways, if its not enough, il just get two and run them in paralell, one of each exhaust port. The turbo is made for a 1.1 liter, concidering that the 12a usually flows twice the amount of a 1.1 liter, the dual trubo should work fine. It also comes with a small radiator, or rather two, that il mount under the hood with a couple ram style scoops.

Sorry to steal the thread.

picked up another $20 turbo from a volvo. its clean as hell.

hey robert if I had $400 to spend on a turbo which route should I go? I know you said the supra ct26 would be ok, you have any others that might work wel. with a t/3 flang.

I was considering a grand national turbo, might even be the same flang as my tbird turbo????

ct26 is too small for a rotary it would boost at idle and melt at 3500 rpm.
