12a tear down...

Im getting ready here in a month or so to get a 12a with the a/t from my shop class... What all exactly am i going to need, i know im going to port it so i will need those templates and the tools. but what all will i need to replace??? Then when i swap it over to my current 12a i will replace the clutch and stuff when i pull everything... Is there anything that im going to need to know when i go to do all this or when im swapping the 12a's out?

Pick up a late 1st gen FSM, online or hard copy, the Bruce Turrentine rebuild video, and as you shop teacher is going to tell you, Study. This is a learning experience for you and when you have a better understanding of the process, you can ask more specific questions.

First off, what year is the 12a in your car and what year is the one that you are getting?
