I love it !! 12a,,,, I have a friend who a few years back
used to be a rotor head, and he was telling me that a
12a is the shit vs a 13b, and about the size, shape, and position
of the ports too..12a bridgeport w/ EFI is very fast,
he says.Is there a secret templete for such porting ??
Did you know you ups guy had such a monster in his
pocket DF ?? Seeing those pics really gets the gears
turning upstairs,,,you know ??? What else ???
lightened rotors ,? cross drilled E shaft, for better oiling ?
Are the rear tires ,M&H racemasters(mini)with pizza cutters up front ? When the car launches what happens?
hooks up,,? pulls the wheel(s) ,?? goes up in smoke,??
I've got tons to ask still,,,later,, all that and its quite too
awesome...he did it RIGHT, and droped the blow through.

I was thinking about getting a stock looking fibreglass one to stick on mine ...they are a little bit expensive though :( ... If the hadn't screwed the damn thing to the car at either end I think i;d of taken it off by now ... still it drops the drag a little so as long as it servers a function it can stay ( its good for putting stuff on while you open the rear hatch too :) )

I just noticed something else, on some of his stainless lines he has hydraulic band clamps :) I got some of them on my oil cooler lines, wasnt real happy about them, but they hold I guess...

He didn't go on Sunday, but I will be in contact with him soon for more details of his set-up. He has been delivering parts for me and saw my car - He really liked it. We talked about his, and that he has a 10 second 12A, - (and I didn't believe it, but smiled and agreed). He told me the shop that did it with him is only a mile away from me, yada, yada, yada.

Stock 12A Rotors. The Car Hooks up awesome, Less than 1/4 turn wheelspin. BTW, the guy can drive very well. He even drove his friends 10 second 1981 Toyota Corlolla (4 cylinder Turbo, daily driver) for him as well.

They did do a VERY clean install. I am going to hook up with him about the Fuel Delivery, which is my only part that I am still not 100% sure of.

Well on his last run, he blew an oil hose to the Turbo, luckily no harm was done. He still managed a 10.28 on that run. He didn't go on Sunday, but I will be in contact with him soon for more details of his set-up.

MIKE-P-28 08-12-02 09:58 AM

A Sloppy 12A Turbo (blow through Holley)) install. It was still good for Mid 12's on a bridged motor. He has run High 10's with the Juice.

This one was gorgeous. 12.58 in the 1/4. Quiet as HELL. Pulled really hard on 2nd and third gear.

It also has a solution to the Gauge Mounting problems for the Turbo guys who don't have A/C.

i seen that car run b4 at lakeland 1/8...i think he was running 6.4-6.5 at the time...Kilo racing once had a '71 Datsun with a bridgeported 12a engine with nos and i think he made it to 5.9 in the 8th...i seen him beat a lot of 13b's with the same set-up...that shows that you can do a lot with a 12a

rx7gslse 08-12-02 11:21 AM

hmm... what size wheels/tires are on that black one...

and what's under the hood to make it go 12's?

I don't know. :(
He wasn't very friendly, and never lifted his hood.

I guess he was a "player-hater" :)

jeremy 08-12-02 12:07 PM

looks like a set of weds. can't see the center cap to well though.

Manntis 08-12-02 01:05 PM

Still wondering why the tranny swap - and which Datsun rear end? 240z for the IRS? 280ZX with squat-prone but easier to mount trailing arms?

What, he's afraid people will know what makes his car run 12's?

I see too many 9/10/11 second street cars to consider 12's to be very quick :)

Sweet... I learn something every day :D Like the fact that I DO know something about GM fuel-injection....

now, to get my goddam truck running.... no fuel :( injector's good, ECM's good, TPS is good, MAP is good, Idle air sensor or whatever it's called is good... but the INJECTOR won't spray unless I ground it out

Oh well... this IS a rotary forum, so I won't ask for help here :p:

thanks all-knowing god of rotaries #1 :D :p: ;)
