12a Intake Question

Well, I got my Sterling carb in finally. Now I'm porting the stock 12a intake and had a few questions before install. There are 2 fittings in the rear rotor track. One is "S" shaped connected to the intake manifold with a banjo bolt and the other is a small fitting about 3/4" long coming out of the intake runner. What are both of these used for? I have removed the shutter valve butterfly and epoxied the hole and have ported the top half of the intake. I'm waiting for a gasket to come in and will port the lower half. As soon as I'm done, I'll post pics.

My digi cam is on the fritz right now so I can't take pics of the fittings.

Thanks in advance.

The S tube is for the brake booster. The short stubby pipe is for one of the AAB valves (emission related).

Be very careful reworking the intake. Too much is a bad thing.

Thanks for the info Carl. Since Sterling removed the AAB valve, I should just plug the stub fitting?

Also, I've just port matched to the carb. I'm going for velocity, not flow.

EDIT: ALL emissions removed. Not a single thing. I'm such a tree killer.

One last question, but on the carb. The port between where the 2 OMP lines hook up. Is that for the crankcase vent?
