My car does the same thing, started right after the secondaries conversion.
You have to turn it over a good couple tries before it will ever fire up, and once it does start to fire, it dies if you touch the gas or the choke.
I am thinking it is flooding out when I touch the gas, which means too much fuel at startup.
Whats the cure for that?

if the engine doesn't fire on the 2nd or 3rd turn, then you probably have some sort of ignition problem such as plugs/timing.
edit: no real cure for the too much fuel problem, if you are experiencing this problem during hot start. . . to quote a fellow rotorhead:
Leaking fuel inlet valves or float level too high causing flooding would be my guess. The fuel evaporates overnight, so the motor starts right up on the choke in the morning.

My car has always done a "wind-up" start as Paul (Vohaul on this board) calls it.... it starts slow, cranking, then over the space of about 2-3 seconds, it gradually speeds up until it finally fires and starts. It's probably just because of the lower compression on the engine....
