Hey guys,
This is a video i never posted up of my car on the dyno. It sounds sick ha. The car wasn't running right, wrong carb and crap. Hope to correct the problem this year. Anyway here is the sheet and run link.

Its a 1984 GS. Fully built suspension and engine. I should get some interior pics sometime. The car in super condition for a frist gen. Out of must of the ones i have seen mines one of the top looking ones. Now if i could only get it to run right lmao. Damn engine blew on me last year and decented to rebuild it. Knowledge is good to have when/before you do that. I was just too lazy and it cost me. But once i get the carb issue fixed it should be a good running car. And it sucks cause i lots all my pictures i had.

to be honest i think thats an error in the machine, (or possibly something in the ignition) because that is a very nice curve its just so rigid. i cant believe how nice rotary graphs look compared to stupid pissed on graphs.

love the braaaap
What exactly do you think is wrong with the carb? Those numbers are low for a streetport. Looking at the dyno sheet, it doesn't look like a fuel problem, more like the carb is too small. Also, if that choppyness is not a dyno error, its probably something to do with the ignition. What ignition setup do you have? Stock still?
You do have a very nice car there and it sounds good too. What RPM did you go to on that pull, it sounded like around 7500-8000rpm!

The weight on that sheet was just put there quickly because of how many cars went threw the runs. I don't think it effected anything since both dyno's came out the same. As for the long run Thats what you get when you 4th gear pull a car with 90 wheel torque. The second dyno sheet i just had headers and a cheap muffler. The frist sheet is with headers and 2 1/4" pipe all the way back high flow cat and a HHK can muffler. But it had the silencer in for the run. Oh ya it has a resinator too. Its a Holley 500 two barrel.... Carb is way to big. Has mad riching problems. The VE is wrong, pretty much everything to do with the carb. Its got a sputter mid throtle that will cause the car to lose all power and stall. I need to get a carb modified for a rotary. I have MSD coils and 8.8 mm accel wires for ingition. Both pull's were too 8,000 rpms. 8k RPM's FTW!

I see you still haven't fixed that issue ... if you don't get anything by the summer time let me know ... cause i'll most likely be selling my when I go with the fuel injected throttle bodies.
On a second note, there's a carb in the classified section almost everyday. Usually around 350$US

Ya i know but most the carbs look like they have been threw a hurricane and haven't been on a car for 15 years. I would rather grab your carb since i know you atleast look after your cars. PM me with a price if you were to sell it. Plus your in canada so its easier then trying to get crap from over the boarder.

Ya man that sounds awsome. The K&N lid thing, i have one for my 500 right now. Its a 9" round filter with the x-stream top for it. If that works i won't need the filter. But i will definatly grab the carb and manifold. What exactly are the fuel lines? Just on the carb itself for the float bowls?

ya the ones that feed the fuel bowls, the inlet size if I recall correctly is 3/8" for AN fitting, but it currently just has an adapter for regular fuel hose. These are pictures of it currently on the car...
I bought this last year and the guy that I bought it from whom i won't mention his name was suppose to send me the K&N filter but he never, and i just stop bothering, he was also suppose to provide me with the regulator and guage but never did. So that filter is nothing special and not the right size, its just the stock replacement ones. Anyhow, I'll let you know what happens.

It looks like its in good shape. Like i said i probably won't need the filters. It looks like mine will work on it. And i probably won't need the fuel lines either. Also do you have to run a return line for this carb? Mine currently doesn't have one. But if your seriously thinking of selling this carb to me i will stop looking for carbs and buy it from you.

Hey yes ... but like I said it probably won't be till the summer time though. the only reason that I'm running a return is because I've got a mallory 140 so it helps in the sense that it doesn't kill it as often like that ... but I think you said you have a holley blue pump right? Which then doesn't really require a return, but its always good to have to get the fuel running as cool as possible and also less stress on the pump.
the new shell that I'm getting, I'm getting an intank walbro pump in there from a second gen to fit, the top of that will be -6an fittings. From there I bought some 3/8" Anodized aluminun lines to replace both feed and return. Also I bought a Mallory 4309 Regulator to regulate the pressure. I'll be running -6an braided line to connect the hard lines to everything else too. It should be a sweet setup once all done.

Sounds crazy. I just want my car to run properly lmao. I could care less right now about how cold the fuel is. But ya I only need the carb once the snow is gone and i can actually work + drive the car. And it will allow me to get some money together to get it running again.

Thanks nick. I love my car aswell! Its not as clean as i want it to be though. This year i am going to hide all the wiring in the engine and clean it up abit/repaint some stuff. I wish i had my other pictures of the engine bay, it is pretty clean right now. But i don't believe i had the latest fixes to the engine bay. Maybe Dj55b still has some pictures of my engine he can post up.

It would be interesting to go somewhere that has a wide band setup so you can see your fuel numbers. I think theres a good 25+ hp in that setup once you get the fueling right.
What jets are you running in that carb? I guess the air bleeds are all wrong as well. Looks to me like overly rich down low and lean up top. It's a VERY common problem with out of the box carbs .
I'd Find the local chevy/ford performance shop with a WB02 setup dyno. They can setup your air bleeds so you'll have a good cruising a/f ratio and the proper WOT ratio as well.
IMO for a street setup you'd be better off with a sterling carb. and factory manifold. Esp if you have to deal with cold weather conditions/starts etc.
Good luck, keep us posted.
Sweet car!
