12a coil upgrade

ok so i hear alot of people saying to upgrade there 12a coils to the 13b coils. If has done this to there rx7 please let me know what year make and model 13b rx-7 did they get this off of because i think my coils are no good. please let me know the info and results. thanks to anyone that can help.
