12a Brake Upgrade --( ((><)) )-->
I was wondering what I would need in order to change my front GSL brakes to the GSL-SE ones. Is it just as simple as swapping out the rotors and calipers or does it involve more modification. The main reason I want swap them out is so that I can get rid of the annoying 4x110 bolt pattern - seeing as I already swapped out the rear end with that of a GSL-SE. I know the best thing to do would be to just get the CP Racing kit that allows you to fit the Turbo 2 brakes but man $350!!!? talk about expensive. Has anybody bought those yet - if so did it greatly improve braking and therefore worth the 350 washington's?

If you have an 84-85,I have a complete SE front brake set.(rotors,calipers and backing plates)
It bolts right up to the later cars,all you need is to swap bearings in and get some pads.The last guy backed out because the shipping was too much.The whole box is about 60lbs,so it isnt cheap to ship,but I only want like 45 bucks for the parts.Your only 100 miles away so itd be cheap to ship, or just come get'm.
PM me............

The big,big brakes are nice,but hardly needed on such a light car.I switched from 12A brakes to 12" rotors and TII calipers a few years ago(Selectmaz kit).I retained the same wheels and tires with both setups.
Even with bigger brakes than a TII,my car still stopped in the same distance as with the 12A brakes.Thats because the tires stop the car,not the brakes.If you put in bigger brakes you WONT decrease your stopping distances,itll just take less pedal effort and youll be able to stop hard more times without overheating your rotors.
In order to actually decrease stopping distances,you must increase friction between the tires and the road(bigger/stickier tires).
From my experience,unless your running widebody size tires,or gumballs,or you drive like a maniac,the SE brakes are more than adequate for a streetcar.
If you can lock up your front tires,then your brakes can utilize 100% of the tire's grip.
