10k budget, what to do?

Allright, ive got a bit of money to spare, ive got a stock ported gsl-se with a holley 600 from RB.

body is allright for its age, but could use work.

considering boosting my holley setup, however, i dont know well, anything about boosted carb setups, some advice for a 250 rwhp setup would be nice.

im 21.

i got off the phone with gotham racing today, they want 12k to do the s5 t2 swap with a big street port, haltech, exhaust and all.

keeping in mind, thats just for the running equipment, ive got windows that are stuck down, a cracked front bumper, fading paint and molding to do in my 10k budget.

so that t2 swap idea is out of the question

well don't go haltech. get a t2 block put a weber on it and blow through that. you can get over 500 whp with the right carb, tuning, porting, and turbo.

just injest in keeping your car running THEN
buy a T2 engine and do everything right.
port work 400 bucks
lapping irons 290 from racing beat
rebuild kit 1.2k
to4e turbo 1.2
mainfold 300 bucks
wastegate 600
haltech e6k 1.4k
and then spenmd the rest on doing ever little detail. you should have around 400 rwhp ,butthen next wsork on drivetrain and suspension and some tires to keep traction
Also what part of texas do you live in I'm alalways up for giving a hand

250 is a ez number to hit with a turbo....stock port 12a with turbo can hit 250 all day long.....if it was me i would stick with the holley and do a blow thru on it you should be around 250 with stock ports you can get alot more if you want to do some porting....you might want to set your hp goal alittle higher if not you might have some money left over :p
bodywork/paint/rims i would do like 3500, all the rest would be motor and drive tran....lol who am i kidding i would do 5k in each of my 12a's but thats just me

a few hours away in tyler TX.

car runs great as is.

i would buy a t2 block and rebuild, but i live in an apartment and ive never ripped a 13b down other then to bare block, and that was just to put on the holley 600.

Right now i would kill to drop a t2 engine into my fb, but there seems to be alot of fabrication, according to gotham, new motor mounts have to be made and the driveshaft shortened.

i dotn know if i could do it on the budget im looking for if i take it to a shop.

Matt, I would repaint the car, get the new molding, fix your windows.

Save the money up, find a blown TII around your area for cheap. You can probably get lucky enough to find one for around 500 bucks.

Power is nice and all, but if a car looks like **** with power, it loses respect from me.

I thought you were selling it, according to Shane?

edit= why does everybody assume an FD is the thing to do when you run into some money?

Hey man, its good to hear from you again, im keeping the engine setup for now, runs great, has good power.

might as well do paint, wheels and interior. with my plans i will still have about 3k left over, enough to buy a t2 engine and slowly peice together what i need to swap it all over.

I second Directfreaks idea.

A blow-thru setup forces the boost from a turbocharger through a carb.

Get the Holley boost prepped, pick up a TII exhaust manifold and turbo (stock or aftermarket depending on what you want), get a boost referenced fuel pressure regulator, some kind of front mount intercooler, a hat for the Holley, and then fab up some intake piping and a downpipe to whatever exhaust you're running. Oh yeah and some oil lines for the turbo.

Cheap power, doesnt get much better.

ps. I probably forgot some stuff on here, but its an idea of what you'll need.
