It is not uncommon for a 1st0-gen to hit 300,000 miles.

The only trick is making sure the BODY lasts.

171,000 on mine this past weekend, stock SE engine; plugs, wires, rotor every year, and oil every 3000-4000 miles and you're good. Keep up on the routine maintenance and that car will run a very long time. Congratulations,

it is on its 2nd motor...replaced 100,000 miles ago by mazda. body has no-rust, shocks are fine, body doesn't squeek. the current motor has enough power to brak 2nd gear...i run it without an air filter, no emissions, no cats, stock muffler, yohoo belt, ngk wires, keep the plugs fresh...just cheapo stuff i can afford...haha. i bought the car for $700..its a GSL model. also it has a coolant leak in the front rotor housing, makes it a little cold blooded...but once it gets warmed up it's silky smooth.
