I hate to tell you this, but you will need a lot more than just the long block from an 89 13b. You need EVERYTHING that goes with the engine because none of the 12a parts will work on it (besides the alternator, and a few other external parts). Correct me if im wrong, but you will need:
-New intake manifold
-Injectors
-exhaust manifold
-all sensors
-the front cover from your 12a
-the ecu
-stronger transmission
I know there is more, but I just got out of bed and I'm half asleep. If im wrong, don't get mad or anything. I'm just going by what I have read.
EDIT: Is that a turbo engine?

the easiest way to swap it is to running a bigger carb on it. With that in mind, you won't have the pain in the *** job of the wiring. You need a GSL-SE engine mount or the Racing Beat one because the 13B is 20mm longer than the 12A. I would recommend you to put a gsl-se tranny... Upgrade brakes too, if you don't have LSD and rear disc brakes, it's time to put them on. You will need the 13B fan, fuel injecter block off plate, stock S5 lower manifold if i'm not wrong, to connect to your carb. That what comes in my mind now...

Its a 4 port engine then. Unfortunately, the intake manifold from the 12a will not fit because of the larger housings. Another thing, becuase it is a turbo engine, it has a much lower compression, which in turn will yield a lower horsepower rating, but greater reliability.
Now, I'm not just trying to seem smart here, but I'm just going by what i have learned. I'm still just an exhaust leak.
PS> that is one awsome car you have. Keep that thing in good condition.

how much modification , i hope only that my good mechanicker can fix all the modification at the engine with common vehicles parts and not the original for the rex that here in italy arent parts of rex.
A common vehicle carb in the US is the Holley. Then Racing Beat modifies it and it works reasonably well on the rotary. I believe RB also has a 2nd gen intake manifold that will fit a Holley to your engine.
