OK, I've been wondering about this...

I've got a RB Street Port Exhaust System for my 85 GS... If I listen underneath the car when it is on, I hear a slight metallic buzz. Is that from the presilencers or is it touching a metal shield? I really don't want to remove any shields that are above my exhaust pipes. Last time I looked, I couldn't find anything touching the presilencers.

If you had this problem... What did you do?

Thanx

If I had this problem I'd hop out of my car and pull the little tip cover on my left muffler pipe, the other one fell off, and that ones loose, so occasionally it likes too buzz....
If I had your exhaust though I'd probably jump for joy.

My exhaust which consists of tuned length 2" mandrel primaries up to the diff into 2.5" pipe and custom rotary muffler makes the same sort of buzzing sound. The buzzing gets louder at certain rpm so I'd say it's just the pipes resonating. Plus the buzzing got alot louder when I got rid of my pre-silencers. I like it.

you have the heat shields in?? i had the streetport exhaust awhile ago and i had to take them all out, they dont do that much imo just more weight.
the buzzing could be from some rice in the muffler j/k

CHeck the heat shields. The one on the firewall comes in contact with the header at several points and may need to be massaged. There are others that can come in contact with the exhaust. but I have removed most of those.

good luck

Well, I can visually see the header portion of the shield and I'm sure that it's not touching the headers... the noise comes from somewhere around the middle of the car (near the beginning of the first presilencer). It just might be a shield, cuz I did have to massage parts of my shield. While I fix my rear drums, I'll make sure to check under the car again...
