**can You Repair The Throttle Body Assemby With Little Hassle??**

Anybody have a throttle body assembly problem and fixed it themselves?? what did you have to do?? Is it a pain in the butt?? I would appreciate your comments/suggestins...........FYI, the car sputters just a little at higher RPMS and I was told it was the Throttle body assembly. I did all the tune up stuff and I am now left with the possibility it is the throttle body assembly.......

if its a gsl-se do the throttle body mod just like a second gen. remove what you dont need and the secondary plates, a nice washing in parts cleaner could help too if its gummy.

Mine is starting to do the same thing, also. Intermittantly. Sometimes (like now) it just doesn't have the acceleration above 4.5k rpm that it should. It starts to "sputter" (good word) at 5~6k and will reach redline sometime between now and next Wednesday! Other times, it runs like a raped ape.

I have three things I'm looking at: ignition breakdown at high rpms, throttle body secondaries, and aux/secondary ports not opening.

I've searched 2nd gen for "Throttle Body Mods" and have come up with enough threads to keep me reading until the New Year. Must of it too general to be of any use.

If you find out anything let me know. I'll do the same for you.

yeah do a second gen search. its fairly simple to do, id recommend using threaded plugs not eboxy or jb weld.

Thanks. Yeah, that's my SE in my sig. It's Laser Red Metallic with two coats of Red Pearl. Had it done at Rick's Custom here in Abilene. There's more pics at https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hlight=rxrated if you're interested.

Also, finally found a thread that lead me here: http://fc3s-pro.com/TECH/HOWTO/TBM/tbm.html which is the step-by-step for the Throttle Body Mod. But, for the life of me, I can't understand why removing those plates is going to do anything but give you a little better air flow. I doubt the validity of any "increased power" claims. A little quicker throttle response - maybe. Unless, of course, the plates are not opening properly to begin with. Then the fix wouldn't necessarily be to remove them, but to get them to open as advertised. I'm gonna wire mine open next week and see if that changes my situation or not.
