$150 1980.....

I dug this out from behind a barn. Is the motor correct for the year?

thanks jeff20b. I figured you'd be the one to school me on the housings. . Anything special about a 74-75 12a, or is it just a different stamp on the housings?
By the wa, I haven't fired it yet. I still have to finish plumbing in the carb an put a fuel pump in it. It started out sounding pretty low on the front rotor, but with a lot of mmo soaking, it's starting to sound better. Cross your fingers.

Special, no, unless you're planning an authentic restoration. Those older housings tend to wear quicker due to chrome flaking and chatter marks. The 13B housings from that era tend to be worth much more. The newer housings can last several times longer.

Sounds like mine. I got it for $250 and there is ZERO rust and I mean NONE. It didnt run but it had a 12a in it.

Mine is an '80 also.

Well, we just gave it to my son for his 16th birthday. I'm sure he'll be around asking questions. I just hope the 12a will run. I'd hate to have to give him the 13b out of the repu.

I could be wrong
but didnt the pre-78/79 models, run those huge *** apex-seals
Sure the housings might be in perfect condition, untill you use steel seals.
