Had a similar experience while in a parts store getting some basic stuff back when I had my 82. Old guy overheard what I was getting parts for, came up to me and said "Why don't you get rid of that POS german designed Wankel engine and put a 350 in it? You won't have any more problems with seals then". I wanted to slap the guy silly for saying that... As if a 350 is really that reliable.

-When you insist 350 Chevs aren't reliable because you heard a story of that one time your buddy's dad's best friend's truck broke blew a headgasket. :facepalm3:

When your 7 is the newest machine in your garage (tools being the exception)

slitherz90gxl 11-27-12 07:55 PM

Whenever you have to remove the factory exhaust heat shield, the exhaust, and the drive-train heat shield just to get to the front U-joint.

Just take the shaft out. Its four bolts and drops right off the pumpkin and slides out of the trans.

Yeah I figured that out afterwards, but it didn't look like it would work with all the stuff in the way... lol.. oh and this goes for all rx7 owners but...........

You know you are an rx7 owner when you really want to remove the exhaust so you can hear the roar of the rotary so you make an excuse to remove it once a week.

When your excuses are...

"It gets cloged with pre-mix"

"I have to re-pack it YOU know how loud it can get"

"There was a ding in the canister"

"I coulda sworn there was a blown gasket!"

When someone tells you your exhaust is shooting fireballs and you say "it's supposed to."
When by the time your car is done and drive-able, you have restored damn near everything on the car.

cfamilyfix 11-29-12 11:29 PM

When your 12a oil leak of death is excused by the fact that the leaking oil can be used to prevent rust on the chassis

BrGreenSA 12-01-12 04:23 PM

When you refuse to get rid of it, even though the money you've spent on it could have bought you a nice truck...

project7s 12-01-12 10:14 PM

heat shield??? whats that? lol thats scrap metal. when you start taking your ac and all the other crap that goes with it, and anything that could lighten the car up off while yelling "i wanna go fast"

northernredneck 01-03-13 10:36 AM

-when your dad comes home from work the first day you owned your 7 and the lawn is torn up from you.
-when your cousin calls you the first morning asking is that a Porsche on your trailer.
-when you wash and wax your car and get all of the grass off from said "drifting" and u go to pull away and no matter how hard you try you spin the damn tires in the dirt and mud fuuuuuuu.

Simon Tibbett 01-07-13 02:30 PM

When you worry there's something wrong if the car doesn't backfire upon downshifting.

PK_12A 01-09-13 10:41 PM

When you know carbs better than the counter help at all the local parts stores.

DreamInRotary 01-10-13 03:25 PM

When you have to consider swapping to fuel injected motor and transmission to get better gas mileage and more power. But trusting the old carbed motor more since it's easier to understand.

BrGreenSA 01-11-13 10:12 AM

when you get offers to sell your car left on your windshield on a mcdonalds receipt...

when you decline any offers to sell because nobody would give you the ten grand you wanted anyway...

When you are surprised by how long it took to get a written warning for your loud exhaust.

... Quentin Tarantino is your favorite director not because he makes badass movies, but because he casts SEs in his movies and keeps them "employed". :)
