DD the T2 but tell people that the FB is a way cooler car. But a T2 FB would be ****. But I'm not gonna part the T2 just to have a fast FB, I'm happy with its little 12A.
When you learn heel to toe within 3 days of owning it
When you buy it and get 5 temp. registration permits from DMV due to smog, and smog it 8 months later. (true story)
When your sister says your car won't start (carb'd cars only)
When people see the car and think it's fuel efficient
When you talk about modding it and never do
When you know all the guys at the parts store by their first name and vice-versa
When you have a frequent customer discount at the parts store
When people at school think it's cool but have no idea what engine is in there

Even though it's older than you (I'm 23) has a cracked dash, destroyed seats and, faded paint, you still have people come up and tell you your car is cool or how they remember there's
or
tell you how much potential it has despite the above.

Now when I buy parts, such as a battery, I just tell them it is for a non-stock application to save myself a ten minute conversation.

This is a good reason to install auto door locks (Little actuators that are controlled by a key fob). The cheap eBay kits work fine. One of the best things I've installed for manual door locks.
Ford Bronco II here as my daily beater. My rotor's warped, leaks 1.5 quarts of oil monthly, bad starter solenoid, bad valve cover gaskets, exhaust leak in cat, haven't changed engine oil in 7 years, power windows broken, passenger doorlock broke, etc. When I am leaving home through most the warmup cycle smoke pours from my engine because of the valve cover gaskets leaking onto the manifold. The fuel level sensor just broke a few weeks back, so I've been using the trip meter to do gas fill ups. My high beams don't work, blinkers/emergency flashers don't work either...
That is how you know you're a first gen owner..
