Wrecked 82 RX-7
Wrecked 82 RX-7
Hi all, my 82 rx-7 which i have had since 1986 was in an accident which unfortunately damaged the front end pretty good (bumper, hood, front sides). It is still drivable but it will cost in the 2K to 3K range to fix. I'm not sure I want to spend that amount. I am wondering if anyone had any suggestions as far as selling it and who would be in the market for a car like this. There is a rebuilt engine and transmission with about 30K miles on them. Thanks.
you wouldnt get much for it. maybe $500. $1000 if youre lucky
youre better off trying to find another shell and just transfer everything over.
ive done it twice. It is a lot of work but not hard to do. good luck!!

Save up and buy another FB. You can find nice ones between $1500-$2000 if you look hard enough. Keep this one as a parts car. Or you could search for a nice shell as Rota said. Highly doubt u get any more than $500 for it if you try to sell it. Is worth more to keep it as parts car.

Post pics of the damage, including engine bay and underbody. If there is only minor frame/suspension damage, repairs can done much cheaper. If there is no frame or suspension damage, then it's simply a matter of sourcing parts and wrenching, then paint. I suspect paint and labor is a good part of the repair bill. Body parts can be sourced fairly reasonably. I've seen too many 1st gens scrapped due to minor damage that's repairable with some effort on the owner's part.
