Wow, Really Surprised to Find This!!
Among other things I do at my job, I sometimes inspect containers. Just today I was inspecting some containers loaded with cars headed overseas. What did I see...a 1983 Limited Edition. It was in unbelievable condition, looked to be garage kept. Only 106,000 miles or so. Somehow it ended up with a wholesaler that intends to sell it overseas. Really a shame for such a car. Original cat converter, all stock stuff in great shape. I checked the rear wheel wells and NO rust. I had to fail the container due to the way it is loaded...hopefully they will reconsider and leave it here!
Wow, how is that car tied down??? My wife's shipped several high end cars overseas but I don't ever recall her mentioning to me that they remove the wheels/tires or that it hung like that.

That is why I failed it. Not approved to go like that. Look at some others that I inspected also.

Definitely made my day. There was a 280Z below it that had several oil drips on the hood. It sure had a pretty good leak somewhere, I really didn't notice where from. The oil pan most likely.

How should a car be packed in a container?
I'm planning on moving (one way) over seas in the next few years. And I'd like to take my tools/cars/bikes. I don't think I can ro-ro all of my junk. A container might be better.
Is there anyway I could shove two 7's a few motorcycles and a few tool boxes in a single container and not get it stopped at the port?

Sorry, just noticed all the new replies. I work out of Norfolk. As for the correct procedures for shipping, the biggest thing is that you cannot "hang" a car from the top. It has to be supported from underneath with a proper ramp. Two fb's would easily fit in a 40 foot container plus some room for a motorcycle or two. The wheels should be chocked and blocked and any gaps to the sides filled.
