does anyone know about a seal that goes in between the windshield molding and the roof... my 80 does not have it but my 85 does... the 85 is gettin painted and i pulled it out and want to know if it needs to be there, because without it it looks the same as the 80 which does not leak any water. anyone know??? pm me thanks, matt

Only "Seals" I am aware of are rubber strips and "dums" (mazda term) that sit under certain portions of the window trim. 80SA did NOT have the same no. of these as the later FB cars, FWIW. Hopefully you kept whatever came off your SA, since most are not available new now.
And: these have nothing to do with WEATHER/RAIN seal. More for noise ie anti-rattle against body. The window itself is sealed on with adhesive only. Did you get a new clip kit? These attach to studs on the window frame and are what the window trim snaps into. should come with new glass, or glass shop can order the clips for about $15/set. Note SA diff kit than later FBs!!! Avai on ebay also very often...

i bought the molding clip kits from black dragon... it was like 7 bucks.. but anyway the seal that went between the molding and the roof was called the protector or something like that.. i bought it too just incase.. so i can put it on if i want but i dont need it..
