NS Will a 1984 12a A/C compressor and bracket mount in a GSL-SE?

I have a 1984 GSL-Se and am looking to add AC. Will a AC compressor and bracket from a 1984 12A engine mount on my 13B? Or do I need a specific bracket and compressor?

Also, will a AC system, from a pre1984 12A work in my 84 if I use the under dash evaporator from a 1984 car?

Thanks Steve

The compressor will mount. There where two different compressors in the US. The difference is factory installed and dealer installed. It will work though. You might need to have new AC hoses made up because if your car had AC and the bits are still there, the new compressor might be different depending on what model RX-7 you got it from.

I'm not sure what configuration the non-US cars got so I can't speak to that.

The SA had different thread pitches on the hard lines, so you have top watch out for that. In your case I think you can use the pre 84 as long as they are at least 81 or newer.

Thanks
I picked up a complete system from a 1983. It looks like it will mount in mine. Even the evaporator box looks like it will mount in my SE. I may need to do a little wiring to match the systems together

Is there a triple pulley required on the bottom when you have AC?
The parts manual shows 3 belts being driven from the drive pulley.
Mine has only 2 grooves for belts

Yes, there is a third pulley required to drive the A/C belt. If you change you SE over from an original Nippon Denso system to a Sanden system yo will in fact need all of the components from the Sanden system. Every line is different, the compressor is waaaaay different, and the evaporator is of course different. You may want to look up an evaporator casing and ducting before you pull your dash to do the swap to ensure the ducting on the casings are the same shape and length. I can't remember off the top of my head if they are or are not.
