I'd like to see a window sticker too. Preferably from an 83 GS, but that's getting a little picky I know. It would be cool to see one from any SA or FB...

Wow, a 4-speed manual? I thought those things came with a 5-speed in '79.

Not the S model...just the GS. The only thing the GS had that I really miss is the 5 speed.

What in the world are side window defrosters? Is it where you have those tiny vents above your side A/C vents? And, blue tinted window glass?

For those who may not know, the sticker is the only current way to verify if a car still has it's original engine. The engine number located in the mid center of the sticker is also stamped on the front rotor housing, right by the distributor.

I and a number of other people in Australia have been able to email Mazda Japan and obtain verification of the original engine number based on chassis number. I don't see why US export vehicles would be any different. After all, they were all assembled in the same plant. It seems that Mazda retained the assembly records.

After seeing a few from 79 and 80, I noticed that the early cars came in at the Baton Rouge LA port and my 80 came in through Tacoma WA. Its odd that Mazda would switch port locations. The window sticker for my old 88 10th Anniversary stated only "Inland Port" as the delivery location. Very strange. I'd be interested to see window stickers from subsequent years after 1980. I'm glad someone rose this thread from its grave, lol.
