I need some real support here guys. In our horrible michigan job market i snagged a job manufacturing hospital beds for Stryker medical. The work sucks, the pay sucks and i am the old guy there
Besides having to listen to blaring rap music all day and my hands cramping up, its not that bad... I guess.
I need some moral support, like keep on pluggin away or stick to it. I almost walked out last night and it was my first day...
Did i mention it sucks?

Yeah man jobs that suck do suck, but it's a job and you got bills to pay.
Just stick with it man and if you want to find another job look for it while you're currently employed. That way you will at least have money and be able to tell your prospective employers that you're working.

I didn't just get lucky. The same would be possible for anyone willing to work hard...but work smart. Each job is a stepping stone to a promotion or a better job. You just have to have the self-confidence to reach for it.
I agree keep the job but don't stop looking for a better one employers would rather hire some one who is curantly employed over some one who has been unemployed for a while and even a little money is better than none I can simpithize with you about the sucky working conditions and such but you gota see it through my boss at fist gave me evey crapy job that came along to try and get me to quit after a little while he kept giving me thoose jobs but because I would do them with out comlaining and do them right the fist time and he didn't have to check on my work now he says I'm one of his best workers and making good money

keep an eye on www.usajobs.gov. all federal jobs, but they pay pretty good. i have a resume in for a machinist spot at Selfridge for when i move back there. starts at about 28 an hour for that job.
A job is only what we make it out to be. If you think the job is crap, then it is. As others have said, you have to get through the bad ones to get to the good ones. I delivered pizza for over 3 years, pretty degrading actually when you are going through college to be an engineer. But we get through the bad times and good times will come. Just keep plugging along. Its as the song goes, "if your going through hell, keep on going". You will see the light at the end of the tunnel, eventually.
I would suggest keeping your sucky job, but be on the lookout for a job doing the stuff that you like doing most. ( Winning the lotto is not a job.) People tend to put out max effort doing the work they "like" doing. If you hate your job, you wont put forth the effort, and you wont go anywhere.
Havine a job that you really enjoy is most of the time better than a job that pays better but you hate.
Having a job that you really enjoy and pays good is even better.
My brother once told me something that I think applies to everyone in lots of different cases:
There were these two guys sitting in the stands watching the daytona 500. They had been watching the great racing action for a while and one guy turns to the other and says, "You know, I have always wanted to be a race car driver." The other guy turns to him and says, " No you havn't."
"What do you mean?" asks the first. "How can you say that?"
"Because," said the second guy. "If you had really wanted to be one, you would have done what it takes to be one."
I have applied that to my life whenever I want to do something. I know if I really want something, I'll do what it takes to accomplish it. That philosophy overcomes laziness, weakness, doubt, etc.
If you really want a good job, you will do what it takes to get one.

Though this is just my naive outlook on life; I'm only 18 and currently unemployed so what would I know?
You should always give a 2 week notice. I understand you didn't like it but you never know what your future might hold. Getting a crappy job and holding it 2 years then quitting proper and getting a reference and an entry in the resume. That's how you build the future.
As much as it may seem rather counter intuitive, I say good job! I believe you shouldn't take a job you know you can't find something interesting in it. If you get a job no matter how dead end, if you at least have something you think is interesting or at least tolerable and entertaining at a job then you can keep the motivation to do your work. Otherwise you'll keep trying to escape it no matter how much you tell yourself, "its for the money."

For the record i have had jobs that have paid four times what this job paid. The whole place was a revolving door (high turnover) and no one was there longer than 4 months. Do i regret my decision? HELL NO!
Thanks Mike!
At least I know now that I'm not completely screwing up my life...
with the exception of committing myself to a life of debt to drive a really awsome car.

And I am not saying you should not of quit just advice on notice. Because that way you don't let bad employeers get under your skin. Never let them see you sweat. I trust you that it blew chunks. Just saying 2 week notice is like the long fbird flip ya know. Your in the drivers seat that way.
I hear ya a bit, but like you said jobs are hard to come by. I wish you good luck, sort of know how you feel. I work on roofs all year long, and today sucked. Unfortunatly if I lost my job, I would be screwed. Not sure what type of a life your used to living, but keep your head up and work your *** off, doesn't allways pay off, but its better than waiting around.
