Watch Out Guys!
Yea the planet is getting so warm that yesterday I went to check to see if the ******* machanic installed the dizzy right the vacum advance hoses shatterd in my hands like glass. Im in Colorado, its so damn hot out there I cant stay outside in that blistering sun for more than 15 minutes at a time.
Priceless..
Oh, not this again. Are we still crying about the pennies that we spent on CFC and ignoring the hundreds of billions that we have spent on "saving" countries that do not want/will never be saved?

I think Stu's still in hiding down in San Diego, trying to suck up some heat and Vitamin D before he heads back to the GWN.
If you want an example of what was done to the temperature data in order to make it "hide the decline," and don't mind staring at some charts, I recommend this article:

Global warming or not, we need to cleaner energy and that means getting off coal.
"Let the market decide".
Apparently, coal companies don't give a **** about "the market."

The c02 isnt what causes this global climate change BS anyways. Its another way that the government is getting into OUR, the tax-payers, pockets.
Tell me these 'hybrids' aren't hypocritical. You go out, spend $30,000+ on a brand new car that gets 40mpg. These brand new cars use resources to produce them, right? They use electricity to make them, let alone all the material that is used.
The 'battery' power needs to be recharged. Well, cool. We get the energy to recharge the batteries from where? Our house. But we're 'running out' of energy, which is why they want to increase our rates over and over again. Lets dump coal and nuclear because its 'so terrible for the environment'. Isn't that one of the most efficient way to get energy?
This whole go green crap is a waste of our money. Sorry.

A waste of our money or an investment in our future (and our kid's future)?
Sounds like a situation where we ought to let intelligent, well-informed people make carefully considered practical decisions. Would this be the climate scientists or Rush Limbaug? Or maybe Stu?
Stu, where are you when we need you?

As someone in the atmospheric science field I know a thing or two about this subject, however I'm not even going to try to inform anyone here, its not worth my time.
Rather the question I have is do you guys really think that old cars are the subject of the climate change debate or that any of these scientists actually think that reforming smog rules is going to help anything? In most of the country even the most radical of climate change proponents acknowledge that doing smog checks isn't going to do much for the atmosphere. Minnesota has very strict environmental policy, with the cleanest air and water in the nation by most acounts, and yet we haven't done smog checks in a long time. They've proven to be a waste of money and do nothing for the environment as a whole. My point is that its been done, and did no good. Its not going to be revisited.

Please tell that to the CARB and the California state legislature. They've already been pushing to further restrict smog requirements, for both old and new cars.
Yes.... inform CARB of this because they have no clue what the **** they are doing and are trying to push **** that not only wastes money and time for the Consumer, but for the mechanics who will need to buy their new "Uber awsomely accurate expensively REQUIRED Smog machines" if they want to keep doing smogs...
I hate pollution regulations as much as the next guy. I am skeptical that they are going to do much if anything regarding older vehicles. There aren't enough of them to make it a worthwhile topic of conversation. I think we'll see the trend continue of making automakers adhere to tougher and tougher emissions standards with new cars. Remember that no matter how much these political buffoons like to spout off, when it's time to actually follow through they all disappear. Remember all the stories about people trading in their old cars for new gas guzzling trucks that are barely breaking 15mpg under the cash for clunkers program? Or people twisting the rules of the program to help with the purchase of a new Hummer? Politicians like to talk the talk, but when it's time to actually do the work they disappear. We are the ones left to solve the problems. It's these kinds of situations that remind me why I put my faith in God instead of Man.
However, on the other side of the coin don't forget what it's like to have absolutely no control over emissions at all. Remember all the athletes wearing face masks at the Beijing Summer Olympics because the air quality was so incredibly horrendous? The picture below shows a comparison of Beijing after a rainy day, and Beijing on a hot sunny, smoggy day. Remember that there is a reason for all of this crap to be going on. Do you guys want to breathe that air 24/7? I know I sure don't. We would be if we didn't have all these pollution regulations. It's a double-edged sword.

I don't think "they" are picking on people with old cars. Shoot, here in Georgia cars 25 years or older (which includes all 1st gens) are exempt altogether from smog inspections. I keep my GSL in good shape not to pass emissions, I do it because smogging up the neighborhood is just plain rude and uncivilized.
What the ******* liberals want is an intelligent and effective plan to grow new energy and environmental policies so that the earth as we know it can more or less be preserved and provide a decent place for us and our children and our children's children to live. The environmental policies of the last few decades have been reasonably effective in cleaning up our air and water here in the US at least and they are the work of the ******* liberals, not the Sarah Palins.
Obama and the "******* liberals" are not taking away our wankels - let's quit with that phony argument. They are, in fact, taking on the hard work the gutless conservatives from the Bush regime left behind.

Doe's any one on this thread realize that china is the world's largest polluter now.
Just an idea swimming in my head,Since china already has an economic edge with it's weak *** currency and lax pollution laws... how about charge a pollution tax on Chinese imports to help pay for tax breaks to companies that do install antipollution equipment....

Liberals are gutless too and don't you forget it, and please state any facts you have that this current administration is repealing any of the "bush regime" laws.?
I my opinion bush was the biggest liberal since LBJ

Well, I think what China is pissed off about is that 98% of the current problem with green house gasses was created by the industrialized west, with the US being by far the greatest contributor. So to ask China to pay to clean up our mess is kind of rude, don't you think?
And China is taking pollution and global warming seriously. Their restrictions on auto emissions are much more severe than ours - in just a year or two a Prius will not be legal in China because it does not meet fuel efficiency standards that will come into play over there.
It's true that China just recently surpassed the US in overall green house emissions, however China's per capita emissions are still far lower than ours - we are still by far the world's greatest per person polluter and second only by a whisker to China as the world's biggest pollution problem. Is it the position of the conservatives that our mess should be cleaned up by the rest of the world? Now that's rude.
But the most significant point is that China is doing something about it. Twenty years ago, as China was emerging from being a third world country and about the same time the US all but quit on alternative energy initiatives like solar and wind, the Chinese government began investing large sums in alternative energy research. Now, twenty years later, the Chinese are making the most efficient, most reliable and least expensive wind turbines in the world - and we are buying them. Sound familiar?
We Americans are way better than that. We can and will regain a leadership role in the future of our country and the future of the world. And you can bet it will still have plenty of 1st RX-7's cruising the highways, even twenty years from now. I'll be in one of them.

What did you do?? Did you go on google?,yahoo?? and cut and paste any article you observed and regurgitate it as your own? I don't by this and you seem to omit China's large consumption of low grade coal and how many uncontrolled coal plants are being built which Cancel out there suppose efforts.
Pollution tax=rude? I don't think so if anything, because of china's artificially low currency and still lax pollution standards... I think china should be charged with an additional import tax until they're dam currency is traded freely on the open market.
I have a feeling you wouldn't mind living under a dictatorship?? just my observation of you.

another problem i have is china burns high sulfur coal and has no regs.....china is building several coal plants a week, and they dump their trash in the ocean. i agree that we are kind of to blame but who opened up NAFTA? bill clinton that dumb **** that was in there before GWB. also i think obama is spending far too much and being irresponsible, i never cared for him..

Very well said...
I use to like the concept of free trade with other nations. but the U.S always get shafted and get the sort end of the stick every time and i now hate it.
This is should be the real N.A.F.T.A North American Fare trade Agreement
