Exclamation Very Last 1st Gen ever produced:

I posted this in the 1st gen Registry thread, but am posting it here as well in case some of you don't look at that thread.

I am just curious if there is any info on the very last 1st gen produced, what is the vin number, where it is located, is it on the road, and what model it is.

The reason I thought about this is that so far out of the people who have posted up their cars in the registry, mine is the newest. Now, I'm not being conceited or anything, I know there are more newer than mine, it just got me curious if anyone has the info on the very last FB. (That and the "Very Last Sting Ray" documentry was on a while back and fueled my curiosity.)

Ok people, lets see what we can find. With over 108,000 members world wide, I should think we could find out something....

Later,
Bill

it would be a neat thing to find. i'll keep my eyes open for it. it would be a shame if it ended up in a totaling wreck or ended up in the crusher....heck, it may not even be a U.S. imported 7.

I had the privilege to tour the Ferrari factory in Maranello around July 1997 when the last F50 was rolling out of production. The emotion and fanfare around this final super car was intense. The factory knew who and where this car was going. I realize Mazda Corp and Ferrari could be very different in capabilities, culture, etc, but you'd think that somewhere someone within Mazda would remember the circumstances around the final first generation to roll off the production line.

There's a picture in the post below purporting to be the final 3rd generation (Series 8) Rx-7s to leave the Mazda plant. You'd think somewhere there must be a picture of the final 1st and 2nd generation 7's as well:

Met a senior executive from Mazda at SevenStockX, who provided his business card. I'm thinking of reaching out to him to see what if any history Mazda has kept regarding 1st gens and if internal records are made public. Since I am a relative newbie on Rx7Club someone please stop me (kindly) if I'm off track.

I have a DVD with them doing a whole press event and party during the roll out of the last FD.

Rx-7 Key Fobs ?

TOPIC CHANGE??? Anyone seen a thread dedicated to Rx-7, or even Mazda specific, key fobs? I think that would be cool. I've only owned a couple of Rx-7 specific key fobs over the years and am wondering how many different creative versions exist. Bill's would be a highly sought after item on ebay I'm sure.

Mine was produced in April 1985. I wonder when the final production run ended for the US bound 1st Gens.

No not topic change, just some side info. Here is the other side of my key chain:

Back on topic, I would think that Mazda would have kept the very last 1st gen. Imagine that it could have been shipped anywhere in the world....

Bill, is that your correct return address? How old is that fob? Most importantly when, where, how was it made? Would love to emulate both the look and functionality.

Thanks for posting. I didn't mean to accuse you of going off topic. I thought I was risking going off topic in posing a question about threads related to Rx-7 key fobs. My bad.

Actually, there is a number stamped into the back in the middles rectangle area. It is a 5 digit number, that is assigned to the owner of the car. These fobs were given to new owners. The PO box is one owned by someone most likely a department of Mazda, who has access to owner's infomation thru the dealers. This is how the keys were returned to the rightful owner. The idea is that it goes to a po box so that whoever finds them does not know where the owner lives to rob his house or steal his car.

Sorry if I sound a little tounge twisted there, but you get the general idea. I blanked out the number in the picture. A freind of mine had the fob left over from when he had his RX7, and gave it to me because he knew that I like them so much.

I suppose that someone with a CNC mill could copy and make them out of aluminum or something.... THat would be awesome.

Also, I didn't feel accused. I have been known to stray off topic more than once, but I try to steer back again just to keep it moving.

Later,
Bill
