Any "uncut / blank" original Mazda brand keys for 12A models left anywhere?

Just wondering if anyone has seen / found a source for original Mazda brand uncut / blank keys for 12A models (RX-3, RX-7)?

I realize that most business that cut keys have compatible generic keys. Some are not even bad looking, but I'd appreciate having some copies that match the original Mazda key that came with the first generation Rx-7.

I recently dropped into the a local Mazda dealership and had the parts manager search. He said they are nowhere to be found in the MAZDA USA computer inventory system. Bummer?

I have one! I've had it since 1994! Never been cut. I wonder how much they sell for these days. I ran across it in a junk drawer the other day.

My dealer could get them no problem, you just need to go to some place that hand cuts keys if you want to use them. I don't think your dealer looked very hard

Thanks Bass, but those are what I consider generic (non-Mazda) keys.

I'll go back or try yet another dealership in my search of the purist key shown below

Well done Bugman!

I was just on the MazdaTrix site a week ago looking for some parts and missed those. I have seen them posted on another site for ~ $25. I thought that price was steep for a primary, let alone back-up key,. The customized rotor key is sweet. Maybe I'll ask Santa for one.

Thanks for providing the correct part number Bugman! Don't know if I have seen one with rubber around it. Do you mean rubber encased? I'd be interested in that. Do you also have that part number?

i looked even in the late 80's say 87 they were still the same part number they had since 79 so its all up to you you have to get the one for your year though for something because the blanks wont be exact if you dont what year is you car anyways

Bugman - Your direction above is correct. I understand. Thanks a lot. I appreciate your PM. I'll report back in the future on the result of my search.

Key envy....one of the 7 deadly sins?

84 to 85 had the round keys for the FB but the round one was also continued to like the early 90 when they did the funny shaped wing keys with the newer mazda symbol. 83 and below used the square key till 80 before that they had the square key that had now plastic or rubber around them sorry for all the info i go through the tech stuff too much
