The True Meaning of the "Season"

I had to insert "Season" up there in place of "CHRISTmas" to cover all religions, people, and nations. I'm not nagging about the seperation of Church and state or retailers taking "Christ" out of "Christmas", or bitching about anything-I want to share with you all the TRUE MEANING OF THE SEASON.

How would you feel if just months before Christmas somebody decided to intrude into your home and help themselves to all of your valuables and sentimental belongings? Imagine how you'd feel, then imagine raising two sons and trying to recover what's been taken and still provide for your family. Imagine all this, knowing Christmas is just right around the corner...

I don't know how that feels, and you may not either. Some of you may have had a similar experience, but one of US has had that happen to them-just months before Christmas. Kymber39845 has experienced something just like that. I wasn't there, but I heard a little bit of the story...

Leknaw69, another member of this forum, came up with a wonderful idea-why don't we all pitch in a little bit and help Kimberly and her family recoup this Christmas? She wants to replace her husband's jewelry (even though I'm sure most all of what was taken was hers)-a wedding band and class ring-for his Christmas present.

I can't tell you her exact story, but I can direct you to where it started. Here's the link:

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-general-discussion-207/santas-coming-709874/

Ignore the first few posts about the PS3-they're irrelevant to this topic. Skip on down to post #7, then browse through to #15-they're the important ones.

We're all a big family, right? What do families do when one of their own is hurting, when one of their own is down, when one of their own is in need? Families help each other out, that's what they do. I consider you guys my family-I hope you view me same way. But more importantly, let's concentrate on Kimberly and her family (her husband and two sons) right now. Some spineless, cowardly crook broke into their house and took everything of value, leaving a mess behind and an emptyness in their hearts.

How much value does the jewelry in your home have? Surely it has monetary value, but what about sentimental value? Things like a wedding band and class ring can be irreplacable because of sentimental value. I hope you guys read Kimberly's first post in the link above-you can tell her heart's in the right place. All of HER jewelry was taken, along with her husband's class ring and wedding band. But she's not asking or wishing for HER jewelry back, she wants to replace her husband's. That's love. It doesn't matter if you don't have a penny to your name, you can be the richest person in the world with love. But love alone will not replace what was taken from this family...

I could go on and on, but the truth is that I'm no public speaker, I'm no speech writer, I'm just a Christian man who felt moved by her story and then inspired by Leknaw69's idea to pitch in and help them replace what was stolen from their home.

If you guys have just a bit of goodness in your hearts, PLEASE help us out. We've gotten together a few donations in a short time, but this is OUR FAMILY we're talking about here! I know that I felt better about donating money to this cause than I EVER have about buying a part for my car. I don't need the stuff I buy for my car, but Kimberly, her husband, and their two sons need a good Christmas this year...

If you have an extra $5, $10, $20 or more that you're wanting to spend on the latest video game, tire wet, or car part for yourself STOP and think about this. What if YOU were in that situation? What if somebody broke into your house and stole all your brand new '7 parts from RB and ReSpeed, your entire tool collection, or whatever else it is that holds your interest and has sentimental value? Wouldn't you want your family to help you out? I know you would. If you don't have a job and can't come up with any cash to help out, start a for sale thread for a couple of RX-7 parts you have laying around and donate all or part of the proceeds to help. Hell, send her something she could pawn or sale at her pre-holiday yard sale if you have nothing else to give...

Kimberly never once asked anybody for help. Read the entire thread-not once did she ask for our help. Leknaw69 had the idea to help her and we've already got five or more others that have pledged to donate also. I don't want to her to just be able to replace her husband's ring, let's try get enough to replace her jewelry that was taken too.

Here's her info (in her own words):

8034 Holly Island Drive
Donalsonville, GA 39845 My real name is Kimberly Whitley Thank you all for helping me. I have been stressing so bad about it all and in doing so have gotten a better grip on the real meaning of the season. It sometimes takes something like all this to humble a person and bring them back to their roots and their faith in God. If you need any more info let me know. I will let you all know how I spent the money and may even provide pictures...I once heard that angels are where you least expect them...they were right...Much love and Merry CHRISTmas~
Here's what she wrote after she found out what we were planning on doing:

Thank you very much.....
I'm a 27-yr-old man, and I'm crying right now in front of my computer. Not because I'm sad, but because I feel so happy to be able to help out another one of our family members that's in need this Christmas. I hope there's at least a few others out there that feel the same way that Leknaw69, -xlr8planet-, IanS, chutzpah, gsl-se_addict, and myself do about this. Let's stop buying for ourselves, buying selfishly, and buying worthless parts for just a little while and spend the money we would've wasted on a WAY better cause. THE TRUE MEANING OF THE "SEASON" IS GIVING! Let's give our fellow family members a very Merry CHRISTmas this year!!!

Exactly... We are a family here and we always try to help out each other in need whether it be in helpful advice, a free spare part, help during a repair, or a monetary gift like this. I just shot over a donation to help Kimberly out. Hope it helps.

The summary was this:

What have you done to help somebody else out this Christmas season? We have one of our own that's been robbed and could use our help and support to have a better Christmas. Let's act as a family would and help them out!

I hope all is going good for you and your family, Kimberly. I was hoping to reach more people than what we have so far, but at the very least we've gotten to everybody that's helped out. Just by seeing who has participated, I have a huge love and respect for a whole new group of people here. I know there's more out there who feel the same way we do, we just have to reach them. I hope we can in time...

God Bless you all for being so kind! I actually feel a sense of accomplishment, although I'm sure we're not finished yet! Doesn't it feel great to be a part of something meaningful? I'm glad we could help you out, Kim, and I'm looking forward to those pics!

Adam, sorry to do this through forum, but I don't have enough posts to pm you.

I may have missed it (or the 3 feet of snow outside is fuzzing my brain) but how do I help? Paypal to Kim?

I want you all to know that I ordered my husband's ring yesterday and it's supposed to be delivered by Christmas Eve. Also, did I mention that our 11th wedding anniversary is on the 30th?? This is going to be a good Christmas and anniversary!!! I went with the tungsten carbide. It looks silver, but it will look good on him....Thank you again!

Excellent. Can't wait to see it. It should hold up really well with any kind of physical work too. Happy 11th anniversary. I've been married 7 years myself.

Hi everyone! Christmas was great!! I had to rush to the mall at 5:30 Christmas Eve (stores close at 6) to get some presents for under the tree...LOL I ordered all the presents online (paypal...) and most of them didn't show up on time. LOL They didn't get much, yet, but I let them know the rest is on the way...including my camera...LOL My niece took some pictures yesterday at my sister's house and she's going to email me some. I really want to thank you all for everything you have done. I do want to let you know that since you were so generous I wanted to "pay it forward" a bit. The family across the street has 4 kids and have been through some rough times. The kids and I got a few things for them, as well...(toys for tots got a little, too). I hope that next year we can do the same thing for another family...I will get the pictures today, I hope and I will post them soon! For now, I am going to try to track down the kids' presents! LOL

Only thanks to all of you! The kids were happy even though the big gifts still haven't arrived. My sister went all out on all the kids this year so they had a really good time, as well. (She got me some wine and glasses...yeah, sis!) Still trying to get those pictures...I took some with a 35mm camera so I don't know how they turned out yet. Gotta get those developed.

That's a great idea, Kim! We should all do this again next Christmas for somebody else in need. I'm really glad I participated in this-you've been great and so appreciative and sharing-it feels good to know that our donations were truly for a good cause...

I'm glad that everything worked out OK for you-sorry we were a bit late. If we had started sooner then maybe the kid's presents wouldn't have been delayed. I know what that's like though-I'm a procrastinator when it comes to Christmas. I'll make sure I get my boy something early, but everybody else gets whatever I can find at the last minute. And I still haven't shipped my Mom's Christmas present to her yet...Oops...I'll make sure to do that this week some time...

Thank you for being so generous, Kim. I'm happy to hear that you helped out others with the donations too. You've done great! We'll have to keep an eye out for others that may need some assistance this next Christmas (as long as they're from the 1st gen section or family/friends of a 1st gen member-keep it in the family!). The guys in the lounge didn't take too kindly to me trying to get them to help out but all the 1st gen guys and gals were great!

This could be an annual event, provided we have somebody in need every year. I'm sure there won't be a shortage of them, but I have no problem helping out somebody that really deserves it. I'm sorry that you had to be a "victim" for this to happen, but I'm glad that we could assist you in making up what you lost and having a great Christmas! Make sure to post some pics as soon as you can, we're all waiting on 'em!

My camera finally showed up and I deliberately left the tree up so that I can get that pic for ya'll! The last gift showed up yesterday and the kids were just as excited when UPS showed up as they were Christmas morning! LOL They understood what happened and they didn't seem to mind too much. They want me to thank you all for all you have done. I'm sorry we didn't send individual thank yous! We have just been so darn busy! I do want you all to know that we are very thankful and feel really blessed to have this new family to make us feel special! I know some of you said you would have helped if you could and that means alot to us as well! I didn't tell my husband until after Christmas and he said that if he had known that he would have gotten me a little something for Christmas instead of spending what little he had on the kids alone. That meant alot, too and was part of the reason I didn't tell him until Christmas day.
By the way...my sister gave me a necklace just like the one she gave me last year because there was a sentimental value to it. I cried like a baby! Thanks again! I'm gonna check and see what pictures I do have to post and will get one of the kids this afternoon!

Wink Happy Pix!

Sorry I didn't get the husband in there. He hates having his picture taken! (he's always been shy) The gifts we had to wait for are in the picture with the kids!
I wish I could figure out how to make the pictures bigger, but it keeps asking for a url...LOL (I have a computer degree...LOL)
Sorry you had to wait for the pictures, and Thank you again!
