thinking of a wide body, not the usual questions :P
Hi guys,
I recently bought a new FB that came with nice wide rims, and wanted to do a a custome wide body for it during the next winter.
However as i will be selling my curent FB, i am a bit reluctent of selling all of my 13" rims, have 3 sets plus another set of 14".
If i go wide body, thouse rims will be of no use to me.
However i have since aquired another FB that i will be striping for parts and an idea came to me.
Has anyone heard or thought about making wide body that is removable?
since the front fenders can be removed easily, the front is not a problam, i can have 2 sets of fenders, original, and the ones that where modefied for wider tires.
However would anyone have sugestions on how to go about for the rear? I can cut out the rear fenders from my parts car, however i would then also be required to do the same on my project car, and would need to figure out a way to make the parts bolt on.
So right now i am trying to figure out how to best handle this, and if it is even worth it :P
ALL comments are welcomed even the you suck, just go wide body, or stop wasting my time, ones. But if you have any ideas on how is the best to aproach this, or have thought about this yourself i am waiting to hear from you
thanks.

You SUCK, haha
I really don't think it is worth it. Is there a reason why you would want to go back and forth? The problem is it will never look as clean as a either stock or wide body. You will always see the bolts holding it. You could probably figure out how to make the wide body a bolt in but the problem is the stock body.

heh totaly agree with you there unfortunatly, but still think it would be kind of cool.
The reason is that i like the wide rims i have and at the same time like the stock ones :P
But can't afford to have 3 rx-7s on the roard at the same time :/
and the plan is to have one FB, and one FC, if i have two FBs regestered for road use, i would propably totaly ignore the FC lol. If i can sell the FC with profit, then maybe will keep two FBs one wide, one original. But thats a big IF.

Could you get collector car insurance for one of the FBs to make it cheaper to keep it on the road?
I wanted one of every car category at one point and came close .
Sports car: '83 RX-7
Classic car: '64 Ford Galaxie 500 XL
Truck: '70 Ford F250 4x2
4x4: '57 ****** wagon
Now I'm trying to get it down to 3, Galaxie, RX-7, and a DD. haha. I sold the ****** and the Truck is next.

I like that thinking :P
My insurance is not expensive it's $300 a year per car.
but i have to pay registration which is another $250 a year.
it's not much, but with maintance and speeding tickets, it adds up fast LOL.
already have 3 insured cars, as i'm paying for my dads car as well.

Only problem is the wider tires. When they stick out past or interfer with the fender lip, then it needs to be trimmed per my writeup in the archives. blyfly bought a 1st gen that had the oem fenders cut out and extended in steel to accomodate wider tires. From the pics he sent me, the guy was a damn good body man. Looks stock if one didn't know better.
While I was installing the widebody kit, I stuck a pair of stock fenders on to see what Only problem is the wider tires. heh, well i sorta know what kind of widebody i want to go for, and have an image of it in my mind, just trying to figure out how best to do it.
Have planty of time as the earliest i will start will be next winter. If i can't sell my 84gsl, but am able to find a buyer for the GTU, i will defenitly have 1 widebody fb, and 1 stock.
