Turbo swapped rotary car that you have no info of or documentation of = A VERY bad idea. If it was a "weekend warrior" then I'd say go for it but not a DD.

I am going to drive up there to look at in a couple weeks. Honestly what do i need to watch out for? The car dose not look like a hack job. Just need some direction on the good and bad. I know a few people with turbo cars, not necessarily Rotarys and they use them as a dd. Gas mileage is not an issue.
I looked at the thread - for $2500 you have a running TII (blow through) swapped FB. It's worth more than that in parts alone. Plus the car looks good and has rims.
If it drives decent, I say go for it!

price is right!
i don't like the intercooler hanging out like that, i don't see an air filter either.
if you buy it plan on spending a couple weeks tidying it up, there is a reason the guy bought it and hasn't driven it.

i agree. the first thing to change is the IC. 2500 is a good deal for a turbo fb that u can drive home. but i'd still try talking him down depending on how long it's been for sale, but that's just me. keep us posted. and good paint and rims to boot. not a fan tho that he did away with the side marker lights.
Just check the compression. If its good, you can tweak this all day long! Price seems fair, but closer inspection may allow a small drop if there are issues. Take it for a test drive - you sound competent enough to make a good decision on it.

Super clean car, and if all it needs is a carb rebuild you'll have one hell of a deal. I can just picture a small animal taking out that IC though. Even if the body was rotting off the chassis that the parts alone are worth it. I paid way more than that for my stock 84. Jump on it and don't look back.
Looks like fresh paint so bring a magnet to check for a lot of filler in the rear quarters, look for bin rust, and most importantly "do a compression test".
He says it just needs a simple carb rebuild. If it is just that simple and I was the seller i would rebuild the carb and get it running so it is marketable.
Is this a completed swap that "was" running well or did the owner never get it to run right?
For me, if the body is solid, and compression is good I am handy enough to make everything work.
This thing has the potential to go either way but nowhere in the middle. If the body is solid and the motor is good and "you" have some mechanical skill then this deal is a potential steal of a deal.
The sum of the parts outweigh the price of the car. You start with a clean shell and try to accomplish what has been done so far you would easily spend $5000 just doing it all yourself.

And yeah, I would relocate the inter-cooler and make it safer and more discreet.
Good potential steal here, I wouldn't wait to take a closer look. perhaps there is a fellow forum member close by that can check it out.
My compliments go to whomever put it together. Doesn't look like a hack job to me and a lot of the right parts were bought and assembled.

Thanks for your replies. My main concern is this car being more than a weekend driver and have to work on it all week. I can put my 13b in my Sa and call it a day. Cant have 2 cars down. The front intercooler is in a bad spot for sure. I will be taking a trip soon to see it.
