Tech Tutorials Website

Hey all -

I came up with the idea the other day to create an RX7 technical and miscellaneous part of my web site.

The section will include how-to's with step by step instructions with pictures.

They will range from taking off your door panel to some things a little more complex.

I was thinking maybe users can get involved and write some up.

Does anyone think this is a good idea or just one I should put last on my list?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris - it would be great and its a thoughtful offer. Only prob I see is folks knowing it exists! At least when how-toos are posted and archived here, people have some idea where to look. Plus since they are thread-based, when listed others have the opportunity to add to the basic tutorial, as opposed to a "locked" web-listed one. Having said that, there are several List members who have some neat stuff posted and everyone seems to find out, Like Trichoids' manuals, Sgt Fox's Service book listings, etc. I'm happy to donate if I ever get around to laying out some of my restoration projects...
Keep us posted

At least you wanted to do it, it's the thought that counts

I wanted to give you all brand new Restored FB's with Single Turbo 13B's, producing over 400rwhp.

Oh well. At least I wanted to do it. It's the thought that counts. LOL.

That's okay, DF. Your car will do. I will pm you shipping directions to my place.

For the website, go for it. There are a few sites here and there that have some 1st gen tutorials, but it would be nice to collect everything in one spot.

Biggest issue is mirrors. If you do collect something, make sure you get others to mirror it. People sell their cars, then their how to websites disappear.

Good idea about mirrors. I will have my site around for a while. I have had shoandgo since 03 and plan on keeping it for a while longer.

It will use a database and users, but I will get to it after the holidays, haha.

How is this design?

http://theglogspot.com/glogspeed

OnlyonThursdays car will be replaced with the "newest article" and the top image will be at random.

The blog will be for either personal use or strictly rx7 use. Not sure yet.

The top articles is clearly for the top rated or viewed articles.

People will be able to submit articles, I will clear them by me, and so forth.

I need ideas and comments about the design please!

Thanks,
Chris

There we have it.

The top block is a "Featured Article" block. It rotates whatever I have in the feature category.

A forum topic is automatically created where members can comment on the tutorial, ask questions, give better tips, etc.

I want to eventually make it so users can get more involved, have the website more user interactive, just not sure how yet.

Give me some input!

Thanks!
Chris
