Sunroof hardware
I'm sure this has been covered before in a previous thread, but I can't seem to find it.
I'm wondering if the hardware from the metal roof will work for the glass sunroof? Thanks!

I think it should, as long as you have the bolt hardware to interface the OE "hinges" and the rear release to the glass? Presume that came with the glass roof. Not sure since MY glass roof (used) came ready-to-go. I don't know if this is because the Original Owner fit the pieces off the OE roof, or it was this way out of the Box?

I persume this is an aftermarket glass roof? Glass roofs came only as an aftermarket item up to about 82 or 83 (don't remember the exact year Mazda first offered them) They did come with their own hardware, but I don't see why the OEM hardware off a metal roof would not bolt up and work with a glass roof. What you need to be aware of is, the 79 harware is unique and differs from the rest of the 1st gen stuff (80-85). Trying to mix anything between these two groups will not work, glass roof or otherwise.
79s have a "flip up" style rear latch. The hole spacing for the latch's catch is about 3 inches center to center. The 80 and up roof used a rotary screw style rear latch. The hole spacing for this a couple inches wider, or about 5 inches center to center. Plus, the two front pieces (although located and spaced the same on the roof pannels) are entirely different.
