Stock Exhaust Help Needed

Took my 79 car apart too long ago to remember what the exhaust hangers look like. Anyone willing to crawl under and take some pics for me will be remembered forever in the history of restoring my little Rx.

For example I don't know what the hangar for the tube just in front of the heat exchanger mounts to. Does it hang off the tranny?

Herb-
3 types of hangers:
-forward one (see photo of it alone, and in parts diagram)
-the middle one, actually a bracket, that mounts on the tail piece of the Tranny (photo)
-4 (that I see, but parts book sez you need 5) rubber mounts as shown on Diag and in photo on the muffler (yellow circled). Note this install has TWO on one side, not sure that is stock....
Unless your hardware is in great shape (bolts, nuts) you will want new stuff. I used metric Stainless I sourced at hardware store.
-new rubbers still avail from Mazda I think.

Stu, You came through for me again. What would I do without you.

The car is mostly back together. Obviously I am working on the exhaust. After that all I need is fluids and a battery and it should fire. My fear is that I haven't hooked up the wiring correctly and I fry something. Wish you were close by so I could have a close look at the engine bay wiring.

All that's left after that is the interior, front brakes, rear sway bar, front bumper, chin spoiler and the windshield. You wouldn't have a picture of how the wiring is routed in the cargo area. Would you?

Thanks again,

Herb

Hi Herb-
cargo wiring - here is all I have photo'd.
One of my cars is partially stripped out so if you need more detail in the hatch area I can grab some photos and email them to you directly.
As you have prob discovered, the rear harness runs along the driver door frame bottom, then behind the rear side "door" panel into the area under the metal rear cover, along the wall and - as shown here (sort of)
thru the support brace at the top of the wheel well. If you need details of the run at the tail lights, I can supply. Its pretty obvious, as there are metal tabs under the rear window that support the harness as it runs across the tail.
As to the engine comp wiring, I will drop some photos to you on email. Easy to get more if you have some specific detail you need...

Don't forget the ground strap from on the rear hanger of the muffler (usually the dual one on the driver
side of the muffler) that goes from the chassis bolt for the hanger to the bolt on the muffler for that same
hanger. This is the ground for the rear of the chassis. Its can make a big difference in how well your
lights, hatch and antenna work.

Yes it was a great catch. I need to make a ground strap.
