Glad to hear from you again Dennis, and congrats on the second child

I won't copy/paste here but I think it's safe to say that a great number of Sterling carb owners have had your back through this process, and I wish you the best of luck on getting things sorted out. Life can be tricky sometimes, but we all make our way through it.

I can totally relate to your situation Dennis. I used to be "the guy" that anybody I knew would call up when their computer crashed on them. I would fix it, usually charging nothing, simply because they were in need and I had the knowledge to help them out. It also made me furious to hear what repair shops were quoting for the simplest of work.

Well, a couple of minor changes in my home life and at work made a big difference. Suddenly I just didn't have time to finish these jobs. People were getting mad at me because I'd had their computer for weeks. Nevermind the fact that I didn't charge for labor, they just wanted their computers back. So, once I got caught up, I had to start telling friends and family that I just couldn't do it anymore. As much as I wanted to help, I just couldn't realistically commit to that kind of time.

I wish you the best Dennis. You've always been a great help to me, starting with even my earliest posts on this forum (trouble shooting a carb issue). I think that if I were in your shoes, I'd build carbs and go straight to Ebay with them. I think that the demand for immediate Sterling gratification would return a very nice price for your time invested.

Sterling carbs carry a respectable reputation. I never tried to commit to test one for myself, based on the relatively unobtainable status over the last couple years.
The guy does great work, but life gets in the way sometimes. I can relate to that.
He will get everyone taken care of. I feel confident in saying that, and I've never had any personal dealings with him.

Dennis - I think I speak for most everyone here by
(1) thanking you for offering your time with on-going technical support, ideas, discussion about carbs and our beloved rotaries on this forum. A lot more than just your direct customers have benefited from your expertise and wise council. I sincerely hope that time will permit you to continue as you can in this arena; and
(2) as a customer, I thank you for blessing my little Nikki with your midas-touch of reasoned, skillful design and performance tweaks that I anticipate enjoying for years to come.
Whenever you decide to open your doors again, I am confident we will be cueing up for more Sterling mechanical-Nikki-magic.

Dennis, you and me go way back, and not in a positive way....

I just wanted to say that I was really sorry to see that youre having such a hard time with things lately. For what its worth, I personally vouch for Dennis in this situation, and I know without a doubt that he will do everything he can to make good on his promises. You guys would be very hard-pressed to find someone that has cared as much as Dennis has about taking care of people here. Dennis, man, just keep your chin up and keep pushing forward, and good things will happen. If theres anything I can do you know where to find me. God Bless...

I am with Stu on this. Thank you Dennis for all of your knowledge, and for running your site. Without it, I wouldn't have been able to tune my idle as easily as I did this past October. I know that, funds permitting, I will be one of the first in line for a new Sterling carb if/when you choose to start building them again.

sterling outstanding orders

Greetings everyone. I have been waiting to see posts on this subject and considering whether to chime in myself. I too agree that the forums are not a place to bash anyone. However, I do believe they are the place to offer accurate and truthful information about what can be expected of a vendor so as to protect those who are looking for parts or services.

My request is that I would like to know how many other people have outstanding orders with Sterling. Please PM me your details and keep the nasty comments off of the forum. Thank you.

He is no longer a Vendor. He is no longer building carbs. He has apologized, and said that he will wrap things up with current orders. Nobody can even place a new order, so there is nobody to protect.

This thread should've died a long time ago in my opinion. Anything past this is just beating a dead horse...

That's an easy comment to make for someone who didn't send almost $900.00 for two carbs THREE YEARS AGO. It took over a year and a half to get the first one and another year and a half of empty promises and I still don't have the second one. There comes a point where apologies no longer suffice and something else has to be done.

i'm closing this thread. if people have issues with Dennis then they need to be worked out on a case by case basis with him directly and not drug out over the forum.
