OK, You just won $50k in the Lotto. You've paid $15 in tax, so there's $35,000 left. You still own your daily driver.... what car would you buy?
I'd keep my 1st gen of course, but would consider, in no particular order:
1. Shelby Cobra replicar (427 body, but small block engine).
2. Prowler (99 or later with the 260 hp engine).
3. 67 Vette convertible (just stylin' in the coolest car ever made).

How is owning a Cobra or Vette offenisve? I have a Cobra and I like it just as much as my 85 GSL... And I have driven a couple of C6 Vette's and there is nothing wrong with those cars either...
Anyway if I won some cash I would not have to pay tax on it because I live in Canada... Hehehehe But as far as a car goes if I didn't do the smart thing of paying off some debt or buying a house it would go to an Audi TT for the grilfriend or a Mazdaspeed Miata with some cash to spare.

Wow!
When I stated Cobra, I was talking like the 65 Shelby Cobra replicas. They have become so good and the price of entry can be as low as $20k.
New Vettes are kinda the anti-RX7. You see them everywhere; kinda heavy; luxo-sports 2 seater with lotsa gadgets and a big, torque-cominent V-8... vs our FBs, which are rare, light, nimble, bare-bone space efficient, with a tiny poweplant that is rev happy but lower torque. Still, Corvettes do have a mystique. They have beome old man cars though. Even the Vette enthuasiasts are working to bring younger blood into the fold.
Lancia Scorpion! I lusted over those cars! I think it was mid-engine (rather than rear engine) and they were sexy.
I had a 1983 "Rabbit" GTI ... worst car I ever owned. Jinxed. 19 months, 3 speeding tickets, 2 stolen wheels, fouled injectors 3 times, 1 door falling off, two bent axles and bent wheels (don't ask). Sold it and bought my first 7, a shiny new FB, a brand new "S" with the added alloy wheels back in October 84.

Here's a nice example of a Shelby Cobra replica: http://www.ffcobra.com/POM/feb2008.html
And since none of us actually won the lotto, no more responsible comments please! :-)

You never driven one on a road course I suppose? Drives like a car with AWD in my book. Got it up to 120 on a short track last summer. Really do not care about the interior because I would gut it anyways. I like to be different maybe that is why I am still autoxing a FB.
I have driven a couple on the strees and they didn't really remind me of a car at all, steering to road feel wasn't good enough for me to wanna push it.
