thanks for all your replys my plans for this car are as follows: I want to keep it as original as possible because i allready have an 83 thats bridgeported and loves gas! the 79 will be my daily i love the smoothness of the stock air/fuel system,i will put ac back in it, tint the windows and try to bring the paint back a little with wetsanding and little things here and there but this car needs nothing! the suspension is really stiff for the year of the car. today i cleaned out the interior and blew out the carpets with compressed air and shined up the insides

turns out this was a non a/c car what do you guys think i can do? my mechanic told me back in the 80s you can take it to mazda and they had an aftermarket system that was easier to install than the stock system

Yeah, 79-80s at least, had the AC installed once the cars were either of-loaded at the docks, or by the dealer. These were "kits" really, spec'd out for the RX7, so it was not exactly "off the shelf" parts. Good chance a 81-83 AC system could be fitted, since diffs in cars is minimal... and these are more common. Shame to jam up the engine comp with it, but living in FL I can see why you'd want it

Assuming you removed the AC from the 83, install it in the 79. I will be a lot of work, but probably well worth it in FL. It will also help in the eventual resale value. AC was a Port of Entry/Dealer installed option on the the SAs. Avoid the 'kits' as they are overpriced and don't fit/hide as well as the oem AC units.
