Lightbulb Should I ????

k this morning while washing my mom's cx-7, my neighbor comes over and says that this elderly lady shes been helping out (the lady's husband died) has a mazda rx7 in her garage. It belonged to the lady's husband, he was gonna restore it as a retirement project, he bought it in the early 90's and just never got around to it cuz he kept working, he died last month.
ANYWAYS,
its a silver 82 (i think)
12a carborated engine with 140,000 km's on it
she said that it hasnt been driven since like mid 90's
and hasnt run since then either

oh yea, ITS FREE

she said she just wants to get rid of it, the keys are in the ignition, not like i can just hop in and drive away, needs a bunch of stuff im guessing, but its looks like its in descent condition, except the interior, no rust, original rims,

honestly, i never though id have an opportunity to get an fb, i was always more into the TII.
but now, i want a car, and something to do,
im in ontario, so i cant drive it in the winter,
but ITS FREE

lol, what would I be getting myself into? and is it worth it??
thanks,
-mike

there is a FAQ section on here. i would start with new fuel, rebuilt carb 30-50 for rebuild kit, fuel filter few buck , new rubber hoses, you may need a new pump if fuel has been sitting in it.flush the cooling system $30 with new coolant , change the oil 25 , the spark plugs 25-30 .

A rust-free fb in Ontario sounds like it could be hard to find, a free car is a free car, there's a good chance you could get the thing running without too much trouble and be cruising around with lonesome crowded west on the stereo in no time..

there so much you can do. look up removing rats nest and see how clean the engine/engine bay can look.

thanks for the responces guys,
i forgot to mention im turning 17 in september, i have my liscence, its just a matter of finding a place to keep it (my neighbour's driveway is empty lol) and wearing down my parents, and even if i take it and i cant get much done i could always put it up for sale, or give it away, depending on how much i put into it
and my dad's a mazda master technician, has been since 89, so he knows these cars lol, so i got that on my side aswell.

Think this through... it's free. Even if you can't do anything with it yourself due to space/parents/cost, accept it, and then turn it around for a couple hundred bucks minimum to someone who CAN do something with it.

So long as the title is clear and it's capable of being towed for a few bucks (or better yet, started and driven) you can'thelp but end up money ahead.

Hell, if you find loose change under the seat, you made money on the deal...

its not worth it at all. why don't you give me your neighbor's address and i'll go over there and straighten her out....

sell your first free FB? the 7 will be one of the most amazing cars that you've ever driven and one drive will quickly change your mind. i often find myself driving my 1st gens over my 88 10AE and my 05 RX-8!

i also want something to do for the rest of the summer.
but the hardest part is done, my dad is convinced, and tomorrow we're going to pick it up

sooo we went today and we were ready to push it back to my house, but then we took a much closer look at it and ( i do not know how we missed this the first time ) it didnt have a rad.
and the two front tires needed to be pumped up in order to be put on the car to make the car movable.
anyone know where i can get a rad?

Minor stuff like no rad are what make a good deal a good deal. Rads can be purchased, air is free.

try radiators.com, that's where I got my last one.

Pics???

If I got another rx7 and it's Free!!! I'd cut it in half and make a trailer out of the rear section...

...always wanted to do it but I just couldn't do it to a running car or one I paid $$$ for.

Cam...
