SA22C620322, I really don't know much about the car but it is a 5 speed with air and a sunroof.

 

Can Anyone tell me if this is the actual VIN number for the car or if there are more numbers to it? I tried to do a vehicle history report and it says that there must be at least 17 digits? If this isn't the VIN where do i find it?

 

that is it... on the older ones it only had that many #'s.. vin check is for the more modern cars.

does it have a digital clock ? or dial ..... i think the only black 79 was the LE model which had a digital clock. Otherwise , your car has likely been repainted , Check for a paint code on a sticker on underside of hood

 

Okay I have found out that my car is actually a 1980 not a 79. The car hasen't been reistered since 1990 and when i got the car I was told it was a 79. I went to get the registration transferred today and they told me that the VIN came up as 1980.

 

Yeah your VIN is very late, probably built in about July 1980... at work now so I don't have the chart for VIN to year but yours is almost an 81

SA22C-553782 I think its a 79 but I didnt ask. This car was at a local shop near my work, a friend who works there wanted me to give them a few tips on the car. They were trying to keep it from backfiring, good luck, it actually ran great, I think they were trying to fix a perfectly fine car. It was the exact color of 64mgbs car and had the same two tone badass interior, just not as clean, but it was the cleanest SA I've seen in person. I dont think it was an S because it had a 4 spoke wheel and a nice factory audio system, but I could be wrong. Anyway just wanted to put it on record, another one lives! located here in Texas

 

you may want to offer to buy the car. i know i would. and you can tell your friend that the engine will NEVER stop backfiring. its just the nature of the SA. because it lacks a shutter valve and a coasting valve, you will see a tad "less refinement" on the deccelleration system. my 80 Leather Sport is notorious for backfiring in between shifts and after a little revving. i kinda like it though.

 

Finally got around to checking my number-

What was left of interior was dark/black/grey velour. Still have speedo gauge cluster on the shelf.Don't know if it works. I don't need it. Anyone interested?

 

f/p79, your VIN is a bit long. re-check it and see where the typo is. i'm assuming that the typo is one of the 5's and maybe the zero...
