S3 bad seat rails, how can i fix???

Hi guys, my seat rails in my 85 rx7 are getting really sloppy. The seats are both leaning in towards the centre and im starting to get a bad back from driving it. Just wondering if there is some way to harden or tighten the rails up, so the seat sits in the right position with no movement. If anyone knows any tricks please post.

i'm thinking they were loose at the seats. i put lock washers on it so that it doesn't loosen by itself. i'm looking at my set from an SA, i'm not sure if it could fix your problem. but make sure none of the bolts are loose.

Thanks mate I will check and see if they are loose tomorrow. But im pretty convinced that the actual rail has come loose over time.

there are 4 12mm bolts that hols the rails to the seat itself. over time they tend to back out and the seat will loosen up. having the seat out is a great time to grease the rails.

If the problem is just loose bolts, you can tighten them up.

If it's the actual sliders that have worn over the years, there's not a lot you can do; the ball bearings tend to eat grooves into the rails over the years, creating slop.

You can try crushing the side overlap on the rails down, but it takes a lot of force (sledge or hydralic ram time, it's thick metal) and if you go even a little too far, the rails won't ever slide again.
