ON RX7 appraisal

I am looking for insurance and appraisal suggestions for my 1980 RX7. Anyone had a good experience in Ontario? I am the original owner with a current FIT ownership registered with the Ontario ministry.
I have just been told I need the car appraised because of its age at my expense. Who is the best person to do this and how can it be done without driving it since the shop is working on it?

I used Maurice Bramhall & Associates here in Toronto several years ago to qualify my car for vintage car insurance. 416 822 0096.

I heard of The Silver Wheel Plan at Lant Ins Broker 1(800)461-4099. I also found out about Vintage Auto Ins. and spoke to Jason 1855 653-7433. I now have a referral to a fair and honest local appraiser in Muskoka

I used a local appraiser and got Echelon General Insurance after talking to Vintage Auto.

So what did it appraise at, if thats ok to ask? Always curious about the values.

My own SA I would peg at about $3500 USD but when I get a respray done I'm sure it will be about 10K.
Thats when I'll switch it to collector car insurance, as I hear they aren't interested in much below
that figure here in the states.

$7000 before the service to get it running reliably again. The appraiser gave me a file of the pics of the car as it is now and recommended one of the shops I was considering for the bodywork. After the bodywork is done the cost would be added to the appraised value and the car would be reappraised. The appraisal cost $199. Canadian pricing BTW
The classic car insurance is less than $200 a year but it can't be driven to work or for business so I have to go home and get it before taking it to a car meet. They won't insure anything less than $5000 and they won't insure it without the owner having a daily drive vehicle insured as well (doesn't matter if the car is insured by another company). I cannot park the RX7 in large mall shopping lots unattended in order to meet insurance requirements because of the high incidents of thefts currently happening for collector cars.

Yep, sounds about right. Thats why I have put off getting a nice repaint. As it is now
its a nice 20 footer but doesn't attract the kind of attention it would get if it was all
perfect looking. I still use a locking bar on the steering wheel in some areas though.
