RX-7 no. 33 for sale on eBay

That's right, check the VIN. SA22C500033.

HERE is the auction.

Somebody snag this bad-boy. It's for sale by a charity, and they don't know what they've got. And if you buy the car, make sure to tell us about it

It's in eBay's header info, detailing color, tranny, engine, etc.

I wonder if North America had its own series of VINs, or if they all started at 500000.

Nice car. It's in good shape. The 5 is the year code. 78 was 2 and 80 was 6.

So that just makes it the 33rd 79? It would still top the 7club registry, but not as super-rare as I originally thought.

They do kind of know what they have, but doesn't matter I have the high bid (as of this post )now and have been following this one since the begining. There was a thread already posted in this section on the same auction. Car is in decent shape does have a little body damage see drivers door also the clutch hydraulics are out, see the clutch pedal on the floor, so it will have to be towed home.

All in all decent car I am going to put a widebody kit on it and do an LS1 conversion........................ NOT ............... IT WILL STAY BONE A$$ STOCK

of course that is all dependant on if I get.

Assuming all goes well I will post all the pics and info on the car after the auction.

It's a 4-Speed SA too. Those are getting much harder to find.

I have an '80, and the VIN serial starts with 5... no 6's in it...

Rotarydude, are you at Riley? If so, you can appreciate that I grabbed my wife up in Junction City after rotating back and ETSing out of there.

ETSing is Army speak for an honorable discharge. Expiration of Term of Service. It's basically used as a verb that means GTFO honorably.

Based on VIN info from the parts fiche, Mazda built 2998 RX-7's in March of 1978.

Dividing that by 30 (worst-case calc; 24/7 production starting on the 1st) gives 99... so this car theoretically is from the first DAY's production run!

Here's hoping they were getting things right on that first day. They had just retooled from shutting down RX-2, RX-3, RX-4, AND Roadpacer production to work on this one car, so hopefully they were paying attention.

It's a model year vin code. Model years are not always the same as exact production dates in the automotive industry. It's more for tooling and design and of course service manuals and part numbers etc.

So if you have a 5 it's a 79 model. Might been made in 78.

WTF does GTFO mean, now my orders bringing me to Riley that was one major SNAFU, Hooah........ Crit when were you here at Riley this is actually the second time I have been assigned here. And don't worry this is only temporary we kept the shop in Texas.

As to the Rx well there has been alot of bad info that has been put out. I know it was not done on purpose but I am trying to wait until my wife pulls the books and articles that will back up the info I want to post that will clear up everything

I will admit it was a hard decision to go after this one because there is also the 79 up right now with 6k original miles

Sorry, bud, but that's just not right. SA-series VINs are not model-year keyed; the 6-digit number is straight sequential, starting with 500001 in March of 1978.

SA22C-600000 rolled off the line in January of 1980... but so did 597273, and so did mine (597799). Mine is a 1980 GS, per the decals underhood & the title.

SA production ended in September of 1980... which were all model-year-1980 vehicles.

I'm reading this straight from the Mazda parts fiche.

This one is so tempting to pick up, even have a sister in Denver to hold it for a bit. Since Dave has a bid on it, I'll stay out, have too many cars anyway, city is in my butt again. Good luck with it Dave, I know it will get the proper care in your hands.

I was at Riley from October 2002 through my deployment in Feb 03 through my ETS that December. My mother in law still lives in Junction, but my wife rarely makes it back. She misses Kansas, but I don't see why.
